Fudge

#1 Post by PlacentiaSoccerMom » Thu Dec 13, 2007 1:30 pm

I just made a batch of fudge.

I haven't made it in 15 years. I'd forgotten how sore it makes my arm.

This is so Skippy-ish that even I'm reluctant to post it. Can't resist, though. For some reason a little rhyme that we used to say when I was really young -- haven't thought of this in a long, long time -- popped into my head just now:

Milk, milk, lemonade. 'Round the corner fudge is made.

Anybody ever hear that?

Until I taste it, I will not know whether you really made fudge or not.

As long as you put nuts in it you are on the right track.

No, but thank God you're here - I have been chastised for making a "Travis-esque" comment in another thread. Obviously there's room for only one Travis here, and I ain't him.

My mom always used walnuts, but I used pecans. She always used semi-sweet chocolate but I used dark chocolate.

You would like it too much today.

I will only smack it when I know you won't like it.

All the better!

Reminds me of the exchange between a sadist and a masochist:

Sadist: NO!

There is a longer version that you ought to know:

Milk, Milk, Lemonade,
Around the corner fudge is made.
Push the buttons,
Pull the chain,
Out comes a chocolate choo-choo train!

But it's much better with the hand motions and illustrative postures...

I had to click on this just to satisfy my curiousity..was it LITERALLY fudge you were talking about, or was it a G-Rated substitute for a naughty word, and were you gonna rant about something?

I like the literal one better. Not that I don't enjoy a well-written rant on occasion, mind you.

Learn something new every day. 'Course, we used the hand motions and pointing and what not, but never knew the last part.

ICM! Maybe if somebody would have explained it like that back then I would have studied harder.

I have an easier recipe for fudge. Not so much stirring - if you're interested. Also a good recipe for peanut butter fudge that takes about 3 minutes to make.

I actually made fudge. I didn't let it boil long enough, so it's softer than I would like. The kids like it though. It's sort of a practice batch.

I would love your fudge recipe.

I can't make peanut butter fudge because Maddie might die.

Suitguy is not bitter.

feels he represents the many educated and rational onlookers who believe that the hysterical denouncement of lay scepticism is both unwarranted and counter-productive

The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.
