Thanks, Rexer. I'm feeling pretty lucky, since my town alone still has more than 25,000 households (that's households, not people) without electricity. In a city of 100,000, that's a pretty big hit.

In the light of early morning, so many trees are down that it looks almost as if a tornado had struck. (The important differences are that everybody still has a roof, with or without holes, and no cars are piled on top of each other.)

So far, so good. A number of large broken branches are still clinging to their trees until the next good wind, though, so it's not yet safe to go back to the usual parking spaces.

I have family in Broken Arrow, and they are without power, I think, the whole town. Gas cookers, gas fireplaces or wood-burning fireplaces with dry wood in place, but they are thinking they might leave early to come up here for Christmas. Judy, why don't you and the pups hitch a ride and come up for a MOntana Christmas!

They've clarified. We're not in danger of having the water cut off, and there's enough for drinking and bathing. Oklahoma City is sharing water with Norman until our treatment pumps are working again. They have asked people simply to be frugal, because fighting a big fire would run through the water supply pretty quickly. A small town near here lost its high school early yesterday morning for lack of pumping ability, and that's the kind of disaster they want to avoid.
