I was psyched to hear Twisted Sister's version of O Come All Ye Faithful, which was a natural since it is similar to We're Not Gonna Take It. It was very well reviewed.
It was very disappointing. Just a bunch of shouting. No wit, or even an attempt at singing. This would have benefitted from a very broad wink.
Alas.

Maybe Dee Snyder should try the Hippo song. He couldn't be any worse than the annoying kid who sings it....

Those of us who create lots of avatars take what's available, especially if it's already sized correctly. I forgive him...PlacentiaSoccerMom wrote:Dominick, you look like Donkey from the Shrek movies.Dominick the Donkey wrote:minimetoo26 wrote: I've gotten the Dominick the Donkey earworm. Sadly, I admit I was actually seeking out Shrek Donkey pictures for Dominick's avatar. I wanted Dom to have a celebrity representing him, like in the Geico commercials....

First thing that came to my mind when I read this too, TiV..I think Jimmy Eat World does a nice job with it.traininvain wrote:There are a bunch of them but, the version by Jimmy Eat World is pretty good.mellytu74 wrote:SOmebody else has a recording of Wham's Last Christmas.
It's still just as bad in that version, too.
One of my fave obscurities is by a band called Mike Viola and the Candy Butchers..Mike is the voice you hear singing on the title track in the movie "That Thing You Do" (the actor is lip synching). Anyway, they have a holiday song called "Give Me a Second Chance for Christmas". Really nice little melody...Poppy and bright, but with a melancholy spice. The song came to mind 'cuz I have it on a mix disc with the Jimmy Eat World tune.
I have so many favorites it would take a long time to list them all. My NEW additions to the Christmas library this year are discs by Twelve Girls Band (13 young ladies from China who combine ancient Chinese instruments and modern instruments and perform a variety of styles), Keith Emerson, Blackmore's Night (former Deep Purple guitarist Ritchie Blackmore and his vocalist wife..it is not the type of music you would expect from Blackmore..mellow, and occasionally old-English style balladry), and The Smithereens.

Ellie! I have an old JM LP that is probably my favourite Christmas album (yes, LP, cause I'm old school like that). Does this one have a cover where he's standing in the snow wearing (I think) a red sweater and holding skis? At least I think he's holding skis, it might be the poles. And there's a hand-written Christmas letter on the back. When I was a kid, I thought it was funny that Johnny Mathis dotted his i's with circles (although who know if it was actually his handwriting). If it's the same one, his "I'll Be Home for Christmas" makes me all choked up every time. When I play that on the piano, I hear Johnny Mathis in my head.ontellen wrote:My favourite Christmas album (and I found it at Amazon about 3 years ago!) is the Johnny Mathis one. I have the old album and there was never a Christmas since it came out without it.
Hey, this is my favourite Christmas song as well! I have just not been into Christmas this year (or maybe just oblivious to it), so I heard this one for the first time this year on Saturday.ontellen wrote: I can't believe that no one has mentioned my favourite Christmas song and that's John Lennon's And So This is Christmas - never ceases to choke me up.
I got A Twisted Christmas last year (Twisted Sister, not Bob Rivers) and I listened to it incessantly.
