Transcript is up now. He's doing well, and is very likable. He's from Nashville, but says he's originally from Mississippi, and moved "up north". He reasoned out a Memphis question not everyone would get.
I thought his lifeline usage was perfect.
Spoiler
they asked what country's old capital Memphis was named for, and he knew that the current city had a sports arena called the Pyramid, so he worked out it must be Egypt
Spoiler
He had all four LLs at 50K, and ATA about what condiment the U.S. has put in solders' packaged meals since the 80s. I thought it was unlikely the audience would contribute much at higher levels, and all it takes is several audience members who've served or had family members serve to get a good spike on this one, and he did. I'd stopped the tape to decide my own LL usage, and said I would ATA and then STQ if there was no good spike. He got 59%, and the others 20, 15, and 6. If one of them had been 30, it would've been a problem for me.

Yes, different Bill MacDonalds. That one won $125K back in the first run of the show, in August 1999. He's also a regular on the J! board.ToLiveIsToFly wrote:This is a different Bill McDonald from the one who was in last year's Jeopardy TOC, right? I think I heard somewhere he had been on BAM a long time ago...
