New Jersey To Ban Brazilian Wax

#1 Post by wintergreen48 » Thu Mar 19, 2009 10:40 am

I thought that this was some kind of environmental thing-- maybe the wax comes from the rain forest or something. Turns out that I am apparently far more naive about the world than I thought.

Innocent, naive and whimsical. And somewhat footloose and fancy-free.

It would be like banning silicon enhancements.

It would also be impossible to enforce. People have been torturing themselves for fashion for millennia. Unless people start dying as a result of the procedure, I think a legislated ban is a very bad idea.

From above article...
She said many customers would likely travel across state lines to get it and some might even try to wax themselves.

Enough already. It's my fault! Get over it!

That'll be $10, please.

I think she's right. It won't stop the practice, it will just transfer some of New Jersey's small business income to another state.

A better analogy than trying to stop silicon enhancements might be trying to stop tattoos. Ain't gonna happen.

So how did this... *ahem* "procedure" come to be known as a Brazilian wax, anyway?

Because New Jersey wax was already taken.

I don't care who you are. That's funny right there.

All I know is if I were a woman, I would not want lava-hot wax poured anywhere near my hoo-hoo.

I have banned Brazilian waxing as well.

My upper lip hurts when I get it waxed.

The lip above my mouth.

I get my eyebrows waxed, and it isn't lava-hot. It shouldn't be, if the person is doing it right. It's also not poured! I still have never had any desire for that type of service, but it sounds more like they should be regulating waxing all around rather than banning it, if people are getting infected. There are some shady places that do it, like the cheap nail places...my face could be covered in hair and I still wouldn't go to one of those, I go to a certified aesthetician (or however you spell that, I know that is probably wrong) who at least has had SOME training.

I could tell you, but wouldn't it be more educational if you just Googled it yourself? (Think thong)

It would be more educational if I googled it... but it would be a lot more fun to read a Bored Buddy's explanation of it.

Besides, I don't want whoever at the CIA or Homeland Security is spying on me to discover that I've been googling "Brazilian wax".

Where is Fanny?

This seems to be the perfect subject for her type of explanation.

That's not very helpful. Now Nelly's going to think he needs to get his toes waxed.

I was watching one of those Vegas shows on the Travel Channel and they were at this waxing place, and of course my oldest son wanders into the room at that moment, then they started mentioning services available for men.

Like the Sack and Crack Wax. My son winced, then started laughing, then winced again. I don't think he'll be metrosexual in any way in any case, but I doubt waxing will ever be on the list of beauty treatments he'd endure. Just and overdose of Axe, and he's good to go....

That question was helpfully answered in the article, had you read it. :P

And pictures! There were pictures!

(Okay, maybe no pictures, but it might get you to read the article. :P )
