Got my American Casino Guide

#1 Post by sunflower » Wed Mar 18, 2009 1:20 pm

Today at lunch, I made the 20 minute drive to the only Borders around that had it in stock. At first I was not impressed. But then, wow!!! Some of the coupons are indeed pretty good. $200 in free slot play at Hooters, if I remember correctly! That's worth a walk!

Every state is in there, if anyone is interested in anything let me know. I will probably hold on to most of the Vegas ones since I may end up back there before the end of the year...but any other areas of NV or any other state, I'll mail them out if you can use them. With the exception also of the single coupon from CT, which I will use.

And this is sad that I don't remember what thread it was in or who recommended it and I'm just too lazy to try to find it!! So HUGE thank you to the recommender, what a good find!! :)

They have slot machines at Hooters? I never noticed.

That reminds me of the joke about using Visa at a strip club. Where do you swipe your card?

If there are coupons for any of the casinos in Bossier City/Shreveport, or the Winstar or the Durant Choctaw in Oklahoma, I'd be interested.

I am SO glad I wasn't drinking anything when I read this! My computer screen would not have survived the deluge.
I just ordered chicken and an egg from Amazon. I'll let you know.

Wow...okay no LA, OK or CA casinos in this book. So I'm thinking maybe it's really only good for Vegas!!

There is info about every state but as far as coupons: Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico.

Boy how times change. It was just 18 years ago that I did my Econ report on gambling, and outside of NV and NJ, I think Iowa had just become the first state to legalize it on riverboats. Now it's everywhere and not just on the water.....

Just to let you know about the Hooter's "Free Slot Play". It's not what you think. You only get to play certin machines and you ave to hit a "Jackpot" to collect. Don't waste your time. Sign up for the players club card though for a $25 match play coupon. This is a good deal. They have 25 cent chicken wings after midnight, but the lines are pretty long.

Any of the ones that offer a large amount of "free play" on the slots are usually this kind of deal. The $10 or $20 ones are the ones you can use on most machines in the casino.

I think Colorado got casino gambling around 90, but just for mountain towns. I know South Dakota had it a few years before that in Deadwood.

The casino gambling pretty much killed parimutuel gambling and that used to be huge here.

Thanks - I just read the back of the Hooters coupon and it did say that it was certain machines. So I'm guessing the $25 is only valid when you're new, so you have to choose between $25 unrestricted or $200 and hope you hit a jackpot (which I never have!)?

Maybe there isn't that much I'll use then...$10 at Hard Rock and $15 at the Venetian, is it really worth the $15 I had to spend? Hmmm.

The $25 matchplay is for the table games. You don't need the coupon to sign up for a players club card. The sign up gets you this coupon and it's give out at the slot club. I'm looking for my books right now to see which ones would be good for you to use.

I'll be back when I find them.

I'm not huge on table games. I'm a poker player and the only poker coupon I saw was $60 in chips for $50. I didn't plan on playing there (although I wonder if I can just walk around then cash them in?)...I usually play a nominal amount in slots, and will play more if they're free.

There is info about every state with a casino.

Haven't learned my lesson on that yet.

Now when I see the game thread at the top, I read it as "Casino Comps" instead of "Casting Coups"...
Huh? What?

Well, at least I'm genuinely <fill in the blank with the appropriate adjective you may have for me>..... and it takes no special effort on my part to put my brain in park......
