Lyrically Speaking - 3/13/09

#1 Post by littlebeast13 » Fri Mar 13, 2009 1:23 am

Here it is ladies and gentlemen, your 2009 Winter Lyrically Speaking Extravaganza finale! And as promised, it is all songs requested by you, the players! I chose one song from each of the 21 lists I received, drew names out at random to order the songs in this game, and here is your game! The list of submitting BB's is below... don't forget to guess at who submitted each song to get a bonus point! This game is open until Monday morning....

Good luck, and I hope you enjoyed this year's contest as much as I enjoyed bringing it to you!

1 point for the title, 1 point for the artist, and 1 point for identifying the BB who requested each song.....

1. You can see the summit but you can't reach it
It's the last piece of the puzzle but you just can't make it fit
Doctor says you're cured but you still feel the pain
Aspirations in the clouds but your hopes go down the drain

2. He was dancin' with a train
They were all in love with dyin'
They were drinking from a fountain
That was pourin' like an avalanche comin' down the mountain

3. There's no return
Double helix in the sky tonight
Throw out the hardware
Let's do it right

4. The Telex machine is kept so clean
And it types to a waiting world
And mother feels so shocked
Father's world is rocked
And their thoughts turn to their own little girl

5. I used to come home late and not a minute too soon
Barking like a dog, howling at the moon
You'd be mad as an ol' red hen
Up all night wonderin' where I been

6. Now here you go again
You say you want your freedom
Well who am I to keep you down

7. have a secret to tell
From my electrical well
It's a simple message and
I'm leaving out the whistles and bells

8. But if I seem to be confused, I didn't mean to be with you
And when you said I scared you, well I guess you scared me too
But we got lucky once before and I don't want to close the door
And if you're somewhere out there passed out on the floor

9. Everybody wants respect, just a little bit
And everybody needs a chance once in a while
Everybody wants to be...

10. Times have changed
Our kids are getting worse
They won't obey their parents
They just want to fart and curse!

11. I come from the county Waterford,
Near the village of Tramore,
I’ve been living at home since I was one,
And now I’m forty-four!

12. Here's to the winners of the human race
Here's to the loosers in the game
Heres to the soldiers of the bitter war
Here's to the wall that bears their name

13. I'm a lucky fella
And I've just got to tell her
That I love her endlessly

14. I heard two men talking on the radio in a crossfire kind of new reality show
Uncovering the ways to plan the next big attack
well they were counting down the ways to stab the brotha in the be right back after this

15. He ain't got no distractions
Can't hear those buzzers and bells,
Don't see lights a flashin'
Plays by sense of smell.

16. People around every corner
They seem to smile and say
We don't care what your name is boy
We'll never turn you away

17. No mortal was meant to see such wonder
One look in the mirror told me so
Come darkness I'll see her again
Yes I'm gonna go 'cause now I know

18. I saw a tree-house on the outskirts of the farm
The power lines have floaters
So the airplanes won't get snagged
Bells are ringing through the town again
Children look up, all they hear is sky-blue, bells ringing

19. Now the only thing a gambler needs
Is a suitcase and trunk
And the only time he's satisfied
Is when he's on a drunk

20. He once owned a Harley Davidson and a Triumph Bonneville.
Counted his friends in burned-out spark plugs
and prays that he always will.

21. I saw her today, I saw her face
It was the face I loved and I knew
I had to run away and get down on my knees and pray
That they'd go away

That's funny! I didn't notice that! I was just plugging in random people, and I suppose in trying to be too random, we all just went to the middle of the list for the third song and there you are. My maiden name starts with K and I would always get called first by substitute teachers trying to pick a name at random....

Wow I'm gonna miss this. I mean don't get me wrong, this LS sucked. I mean it was complete crap. The songs were shitty, the themes were to hard and the targeted demographics were old ladies (because that's what LB is). But you know what? I still enjoyed it. i don't think I'll ever play another LS as seriously again. I made a commitment and I followed through. Well done LB.

So friends what have we learned from this winter's LS? Let's ask some friends....

littlebeast13 wrote:Here it is ladies and gentlemen, your 2009 Winter Lyrically Speaking Extravaganza finale!

It's the last piece of the puzzle but you just can't make it fit

They were all in love with dyin'
They were drinking from a fountain
That was pourin' like an avalanche comin' down the mountain

3. There's no return
Double helix in the sky tonight
Throw out the hardware
Let's do it right

4. The Telex machine is kept so clean
And it types to a waiting world
And mother feels so shocked
Father's world is rocked
And their thoughts turn to their own little girl

5. I used to come home late and not a minute too soon
Barking like a dog, howling at the moon
You'd be mad as an ol' red hen
Up all night wonderin' where I been

You say you want your freedom
Well who am I to keep you down
