I'm really leaning toward getting an iPhone.

My iPod is starting to act up after 3 yrs 7 months. Battery is only lasting about 30 minutes after a full charge.

I know a new iPod would be significantly cheaper, but the iPhone would give me some internet access at work that I don't have right now.

I also don't know how much the data part of the package is, I currently don't have email or internet on my phone and it's already pretty pricey...although it would probably be good for my career to access it on my phone instead of on my work computer.

I can tell you that the data plan is included in the price. There is no additional charge for e-mail and internet. You do have to pay for extra text messaging.

Well, it's not a surprise to hear me say that I love my iPhone. I got the 16MB version mainly because I like to have a lot of variety in my music.

I dunno what your package cost is for Verizon, but I'm paying about $80/month for 450 minutes (which i never use, although the unused minutes do rollover month to month) and unlimited data. The 3G data rate is good, but not nearly as fast as wifi, I really like the GPS integration, and there are TONS of apps, many many many of which are free. Some of these I picked up free are just silly (like the virtual Zippo lighter or Lightsaber), others like GoogleEarth are just very cool. There aren't many free games that are worth it, but some of the nonfree ones are inexpensive and fantastc (I'm currently ADDICTED to Trism).

About the only thing I don't like is that you can't cut and paste.

Dunno if makes any difference, but my teenage granddaughter got one for Christmas and has
since gone back to her Blackberry. She hated it.

I also got an iPhone last October after holding out against technology for years. I am now addicted to the instant access to email that it provides. That can be a good and bad thing....

Mine is the 8G as I rarely use it for music. Since I was a prior AT&T customer I was able to keep my old package so I pay about $70 a month for the service with more minutes than I ever use. Battery life could be better as with heavy use it can run down pretty quick. of course it can be charged from a plug, my car or a USB connection to a computer so that is rarely an issue as long as I remeber to do it. Almost useless overseas as it is very difficult to get one unlocked and that is perhaps its biggest drawback for me. Have had a crackberry in the past and thought I might miss the true keyboard but it I have gotten pretty used to it now. Used the mapping extensively to find addresses when I was in Honolulu over the holidays and it was very helpful.

And I agree that lack of cut and paste is a pain. Don't know if most other "smart phones" have this. Also cant run flash on the iPhone so sites that have flash videos don't come up although it has a link mechanism to watch you tube videos.

Kay, what Blackberry do you have? You have a newer one, right? Do you have Verizon or AT&T?

I currently pay $60 for a family plan with 700 minutes, I get a 20% discount on that and then pay $10/month for texting and $10/month for my mom's line. With all the taxes and after the discount, it's about $72/month.

I suppose I could dump my mom...she used 11 minutes last month, I can always buy her a T Mobile prepaid or something, for probably $100 - $120 for a whole year's worth of minutes...which is what I pay now but then I get more flexibility with my plan. I don't usually use 700 minutes, that's the base family plan. I did used to use them to call ex-bf because he had AT&T but now I use like no minutes because my friends are all on Verizon. That's another consideration if I switch to get the iPhone. I might be better off with a blackberry, I like the new Verizon touch screen one.
