I was surprised to see that it is only 3.5.

Which team is favored?

If I was betting, I probably would put my money on Baylor. Texas has very little to gain. They already are in the NCAA tournament. They will not get a high seed even if they win the Big XII tourney title.

Meanwhile, Baylor needs to win the Big XII in order to make March Madness.

Coming into the season, the conventional wisom was that Baylor and Texas were of comparable ability, as they were 3rd and 2nd respectively in the preseason poll.

Baylor has the talent to win this tournament. They also have the ability to underachieve so badly that they lose at home to Nebraska, of all teams. (If you have not seen Nebraska play, they essentialy are an incredibly well-coached intramural team. The fact that they went 8-8 in league, and were only a few shots from being 10-6 or 11-5 is astonishing.)

I boldly predict that Misosuri beats Baylor for the title. (I'd have Baylor winning the tournament, but I want Creighton to make the Big Dance, so tourney titles only can be won by teams who already were locks for the NCAAs.)

Texas is favored. I would have been shocked if Baylor had been. I think your analysis is correct, and I hope you prediction about today is as well.

I hoped K-State would take out the Longhorns because Baylor matches up better against the Wildcats. If we manage another upset, I am glad that OSU beat the Sooners because Baylor would never be able to beat OU. I do believe that OU is the only team in the Big XII we "can't" beat.
