Re: New GroganGame: Films Not Starring Jerzy Trela
Brian Cox (ZODIAC) was Daphne's father on "Frasier", so that's the connection to Jane Leeves. Dunno who played the mother, tho.
I still think FORREST GUMP is here because of Sally Field, but "Brothers and Sisters" doesn't seem to fit. She did play Maura Tierney's mother on "E.R." I think.
Frances Sternhagen (MISERY) played John Ratzenberger's (FINDING NEMO) mother on "Cheers," but I don't remember if his father was ever shown.
Ned Beatty (DELIVERANCE) was the father of John Goodman (THE BIG LEBOWSKI) on "Roseanne".

Smiler has confirmed that we already have the right 20 tv shows. So Bones can't figure in. We have to work with the 20 we have.mellytu74 wrote:I am thinking, then, that we have a movie with the wrong Deschannel sister.smilergrogan wrote: I may have tried a little too hard to get Melly's line into the puzzle!
Because, while Zoe Deschannel is in The Happening, Ryan O'Neal (B41. Paper Moon) plays the father of "Bones" on Bones. But that's Emily Deschannel, not Zoe.
I appreciate the effort, smiler.![]()
Also, Paul Dooley was Sherry Stringfield's dad on ER.
He's also confirmed that Ice Age isn't on here twice. So we need a different ER star besides Anthony Edwards.
And since Ordinary People seems certain to be the one that's on here twice, that means that Finding Nemo can't be.

According to IMDB, she was on 59 episodes. That seems semi-regular, at least.smilergrogan wrote:But I don't think Estelle Parsons was ever a regular cast member, was she?franktangredi wrote:Maybe not, but Shelley Winters was not just Rosanne's grandmother, she was Estelle Parsons's mother, so she still counts.
And since there are no restrictions on how many times the B movies can be used, there's no harm in including her anyway.

Maybe she was a regular during the godawful last season, when the show was totally unwatchable.franktangredi wrote:According to IMDB, she was on 59 episodes. I went back and re-read the comment about the TV shows. As soon as he said he tried to get my line i n, I thought immediately of Emily Deschannel. In addition, Finding Nemo and Ordinary People are currently each used twice, and only one of them should be.
And only ER is missing a cast member. (Assuming that the correct match for Ice Age was indeed Ray Romano, which seems logical.)
So somebody from either The Happening or What's Up, Doc? is here to fill in the missing cast member of ER.
And the other person from either The Happening or What's Up, Doc? is here to fill in the redundant Finding Nemo or Ordinary People slot -- which means either The Mary Tyler Moore Show (unlikely), Taxi, Malcolm in the Middle, or Everybody Loves Raymond.

Checking IMDB, it appears the ER person was in 47 fewer episodes of ER than Estelle Parsons was in episodes of Roseanne.
Sorry. I blame Melly. Why did she have to have such a quotable line?

Michael Gross played Noah Wyle's father on a few episodes of "ER", so we can add him and "Tremors" to that list.

Going back to Katherine Helmond ("Brazil"), she played Debra's mother on "Everybody Loves Raymond". Robert Culp ("Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice") played Debra's father. I believe we could also include Fred Willard ("Best in Show") in the "Raymond" list because he played the father of Brad Garrett's wife.

Dick Shawn ("The Producers") played Jack's father on "Three's Company".
Bob Balaban ("2010") played Phoebe's father on "Friends".
