I used to weigh 175 and lost just about 50 pounds the year I turned 30. It's overrated...I'm always cold, and I'd much rather put on a little weight and be happy than thin.

A weight chart of my entire time on this Bored would be a rather interesting exercise in the evils of the internet. I was around 185 when I first came here 9 years ago. Within 3 years, I was back up to my pre-working weight of 230, which I pretty much maintained until last year....

I weighed 215 at my last doctor's visit on Groundhog Day. Not where someone 6'0" should be, but at least it's going in the right direction....

205

40 lbs. too much. I'll admit it.

I promise to work on getting closer to 165 this year.

I don't know how much Pea weighs. Don't know how much she weighed when I met her in person. Whatever it was was just about right. I'm sure it is the same (just about right) now.

We should convert all the weights to stone. Make people think a bit.

Only I forgot how to turn pounds to stone. (That could be "turn lbs to stone" which would be even MORE fun! :P )

I worked in Australia years back. I remember a cute young woman telling me she wanted to lose half a stone.

I thought then that I wouldn't mind being weighed in stones.

1 stone = 14 pound

(I had a bit of dyslexia. - this is now correct)

Can you imagine wanting to lose 1/2 stone if what I typed was actually right?

Yes everyone's OK. My mom waa talking to one of the orthopedic doctors at work and he said whoever was sitting on the side of the vehicle the crash occured on (Which would be her driving and me in the middle seat) might have some delayed problems... so she is starting to gripe about her shoulder and trying to put the idea in my head that I should be hurting. I have a friggin' chronic bad back and neck, and am perfectly fine for once.....

The damage on the truck is in the neighborood of $6,000, which for one crushed in corner is quite outrageous to me. My parents took one of their mini vacations last night (i.e. they cashed in their free hotel coupons from one of the local casinos) and needed the truck, so it has still not been repaired. The cost of a rental has them in sticker shock, which probably also accounts for the delay....

I haven't heard anything about the idiot driver yet....

Six grand does sound steep, seeing as how a whole new engine for my dad was $9000. I'd bet you the driver was uninsured, but I ain't THAT stoopid.

Your parents needed the vacation, and if the car runs, what the heck.

My husband sees those delayed-reaction "injuries" all the time....

That seems like an awful lot. A couple years ago some woman rammed into me and took out Mary Jean's entire left side. I'll have to see if I have the bill around here somewhere, but I don't think it was more than 4k or so. And I went to one of the most expensive places in town.

I mentioned that the driver was uninsured. We knew that less than 15 seconds after it happened because it was one of the first things he rattled off as he got out of his truck to whoever he was yacking to on the cell phone (I don't know if he was on it while he was driving or not, but if not, he's a fast dialer).....

I'm guessing that the high figure is accounting for not just body damage. Lord only knows what all special crap is in that truck they probably shouldn't have bought in the first place.... I'm glad I have a Plain Jane vehicle....

I don't even resort to duct tape on the LBN, and it has a broken tail light lens, scarred paint from where Sister #4 brushed against it in her car one time, and a gazillion dents and dings from over 8 years of spending a third of its life on Mecca's parking lot....

One thing that wasn't broken on the truck though was the headlight. Despite taking a direct hit, it still works, although the bulb is now pointed downward.....

Here is poor Mary Jean:

Image

I just looked at the estimate the other person's insurance gave me and it was $1952. I know it was a lot more than that, because I had a fit. The people at the dealership said the insurance companies always do that so the person will think that's all they're getting and take it to someplace that will do it for that or pay the rest themselves. So all I had to do was sign the bill and they got above and beyond what the check was directly from the insurance company.

I was thinking 3-something, but it might have been 2-something. But, like I said, I took it to the local Cadillac dealership, which is pretty expensive (but they do good work).

Will their own insurance allow for car rental costs? Probably not enough, huh...

Some good info: If anyone has a United Mileage Plus Visa card, and mileage built up, (maybe other airline programs do this too, I don't know...) they can use their miles to pay for rental cars - we do this all the time. You just have to go to the website, click on the "redeem miles" section, then click on "any car rental, any time" or whatever it's called, make the reservation thru the site, pay with that credit card when returning the car, and then when the bill comes in you go back to the website and put in the info from the bill and you're reimbursed the money spent while mileage is deducted from your account. This can be done for hotels as well. We also use this system to get reimbursed the $60 yearly fee for the card itself. Seems a bit complicated, but it only takes a few minutes and it's worth it.
