Hmmm...when my oldest children were little elwing learned about some "learning game" that was supposed to increase chileren's intellligence. It involved creating a series of cards with a random number of black spots on them in random positions, then showing them to the children and asking how many spots were on the card. The cards were to be shown for a specific (and short) period of time and the children would be able to instantly (non-cognitively) count the spots and give the correct number. It didn't work, AFAIK - but my kids were already bright because they took after their mother.
