I used to listen to Van Smack all the time. I listened to the Smack-Off intently for many years when I lived in Vegas. I couldn't get Rome's broadcast in S.C. and it wasn't until I discovered the beauty of streaming radio that I was able to listen again. Here in Iowa, he is on a local station. I have often wondered if he coined terms such as "A-Rod", "So-Cal", "The Burgh" and even "Smack" as well may other colloquialisms that are now part of our vocabulary. He was the first I had heard to use those terms.
