Ed McMahon in serious condition; has bone cancer

TMZ is reporting that Ed McMahon, 85, has been hospitalized for nearly a month with pneumonia and other medical problems. He is said to be in "serious" condition. McMahon's rep has confirmed that Ed is in the hospital. UPDATE: Entertainment Tonight is reporting that Ed is not just battling pneumonia. He is in the intensive care unit and was recently diagnosed with systemic bone cancer. His wife Pam has been by his side, and a source tells ET that his wife's "deep faith is helping her through this difficult time."

For my generation who know Ed primarily from his yearly MDA Telethon appearances, this comes as a mild surprise. We know Ed had been having difficulties lately and on the show for the last two years, he hasn't been "himself". My prayers go out to "Big Ed" and his family. It will be a sad day when his time comes.

I definitely noticed it at the Oscars - Jerry has had a litany of health problems dating back to the 80's. What exactly it is now, I don't know.
