Yes, liberals pretty much have to commit a felony before they are put through any kind of ringer. I wonder what would have happened if Bush had tried to appoint some tax cheats to his cabinet...
Yes, it is a good thing that that socialist, terroist fist-bumping muslim who was born in Kenya learned to hate America by being brain-washed in a madresa so he can be a modern 'Manchurian Candidate'and who had everything handed to him (did I forget elitist) was never falsely accussed of anything.
I think that you missed danielh's point: he was not talking about false accusations and misrepresentations of bad stuff generally, he was talking about false accusations and misrepresentations that are found in the 'mainstream press,' such as the AP (specifically referenced above). All that ludicrous stuff you mention about Obama was indeed falsely alleged about him (and some of it even appeared on this Bored, alas), but none of it was ever in the 'mainstream' media, except when it was being refuted and/or ridiculed. The stuff about Palin, on the other hand, was everywhere. For example, the nonsense about how Palin was not in fact the mother of her youngest son had no basis in ANYthing, but it ran in, among other places,
The Atlantic (which is generally considered to be a pretty reputable magazine), which ran a piece that specifically demanded that she produce her medical records to prove that she was, in fact, the mother of her youngest child. To the best of my knowledge,
The Atlantic never demanded that Obama produce his birth certificate to prove his citizenship or anything. That is the kind of differential coverage that danielh is griping about.
I beg to differ. I just don't recall any MSM reporting/covering this rumor as fact or implying giving it any legs whatsever. I do see a number of Palin supports claiming it but never seeing any cites until now. I did do a quick google on Altantic Palin Trig and the only thing a found was 2 pieces by Andrew Sullivan (who I believe considers himself a conservative) in a column called The Daily Dish asking the Palin campaign to put something out such as a birth certificate to stop the internet rumors - as being in her best intrest -as opposed to how it was characterized above. and a follow-up piece with some links to photos showing what appears to be a pregnant Palin but still saying that putting out the birth certificate would help end the rumors - the tone is not that they thought the rumors were real and they needed the birth certificate for proof - just the opposite. It is basically a paragraph one day and a followup on the next day and then nothing else. I really wouldn't call this a MSM blast. Going to the Esquire site, they have all of Palin's answers but none of the questions - and she talks about the Anchorage Daily News asking her about proof and how it was all nonsense. I just don't see this as something the mainstream media jumped on and promoted. No offense, I do see this as something that Palin supporters have tried to use to beat the media up about - by making claims on how the MSM made a big deal that Sarah Palin wasn't Trig's mom, but I don't see anything to back up the claims.
There is a lot of things you can beat the media up on - but in this case, as far as I can see, there is no there, there.
Also, I might be dense, but I'm not sure I know what where the:
...false accusations and misrepresentations that are found in the 'mainstream press,' such as the AP (specifically referenced above).
I'm not sure I know what specifically you are referring to.
BTW, I guess we can also conclude from you reply that Fox News is not part of the media that we should care what they say since many of these nonsensical Obama rumors got plenty of air time from them.
