#1 Post by BBTranscriptTeam » Wed Feb 25, 2009 6:00 pm

Chris Boney
Wilmington, NC
Capcom Sweepstakes Winner

Chris finds the whole experience a little nerve-wracking, and doesn't want to look like a fool on TV. Meredith reminds him that if he DOES end up looking like a fool, he's headed directly to YouTube.

His category tree:

Sheepish
Famous Firsts
Very Superstitious
The Name Game
Classic Rides
Going South
Mr. Wizard
Rich and Thicke
Worst-Case Scenario
Lenin
(Pretty Grim)
(Time Zones)
(M&Ms)
(Long Goodbyes)
(Cut a Rug)

He still has three lifelines available: PAF, ATE and DD. (Today's expert is Ashleigh Banfield, Emmy winner and host of TrueTV's "Banfield and Ford Courtside".)

$2,000 (Lenin): Since 1924, Lenin's Mausoleum has been a popular attraction in which of these world-famous locales?
A. Red Square B. Trafalgar Square
C. Times Square D. Tiananmen Square
Spoiler
A. Red Square (18)
$4,000 (Worst-Case Scenario): According to the "Worst-Case Scenario Survival Handbook," what worst-case scenario can be avoided by walking with a pole?
A. Getting lost in a desert B. Drowning in a flood
C. Getting stuck in quicksand D. Getting trampled by a crowd

Chris chooses to PAF (10). Standing by are his cousin, Laura (Wilmington, NC); his friend, Steve (Wilmington, NC); and his brother-in-law, Ashton (Cincinnati, OH). He chooses to call Laura.
PAF discussion
Laura asks Chris to reread the answers with 12 seconds left. He does, and she quickly says, "I've gotta guess. Quicksand" as time runs out.
Spoiler
C. Getting stuck in quicksand (2)
$8,000 (Rich and Thicke): Robin Thicke, whose song "Lost Without U" was an R&B hit in 2007, is the son of a TV actor who starred on what '80s sitcom?
A. Who's the Boss B. Family Ties
C. Growing Pains D. Perfect Strangers
Spoiler
C. Growing Pains (22)
COMMERCIAL BREAK

Chris says he si having a great time, despite being nervous. Meredith mentions that he's the right guy to have around when you're in a difficult situation, since he once saved an 8-year-old boy from drowning in the ocean when Chris was a lifeguard. Chris's comment is that it was "just [his] job."

$16,000 (Mr. Wizard): In "The Wizard of Oz," what would be the Tin Man's name if the word "tin" were replaced with an appropriate chemical symbol?
A. The Fe Man B. The Sn Man
C. The Au Man D. The W Man

Chris says he thinks he knows the answer, but wants to ATE (13).
ATE discussion
Ashleigh says she knows it's not the Fe Man, because that's iron, and it's not the Au Man, because that's gold. The Sn Man is familiar to her, but she doesn't know what the W would be. She's leaning towards B, but only knows it's not A or C.
Chris decides to DD (4). His first answer is correct.
Spoiler
B. The Sn Man (4)

(FTR, W is tungsten.)
$25,000 (Going South): Which of these European capitals is located farthest South?
A. Kiev B. Prague
C. Vienna D. Berlin

Chris walks away with $16,000.
Spoiler
C. Vienna (2)

2K: I have an idea, but I'll ask the audience just to make sure.

25K: I'll use double dip. (First answer would be the correct one, Vienna)

I'd be looking at the $50K question with my PAF and ATE remaining.

That's better than I expected from a sweepstakes winner.

I've have used the ATA on the "Rich and Thicke" question. I could only eliminate Family Ties, for sure.

Really? I thought that since Alan Thicke was the expert during (most of) Family Week in November, people here would remember what show he starred in. Then again, I do have a good photographic memory. :D

Sorry, if I don't care enough about the celebs before they become "experts", they don't earn that respect by serving in that capacity. :P

Figures, since that's what you're downloading.
I believe in the usefulness of useless information.

That same comment comes up on today's show from a different contestant. Are there llamas on YouTube?

This does not bode well - he's down two lifelines already. But then what should we expect from someone picked at random?

I'm surprised that the expert knew two of those chemical symbols.

Spoiler
C. Vienna (2)
He didn't bother to try the Double Dip and ended up just about where I'd expected him to end up.

As a former YouTube user, I can tell you that are, in fact, three people on Millionaire who llamaed out and have multiple duplicate videos of their appearance on YouTube. Most notably Chase "Surge Protector" Sampson, who missed the $100 question in October '06 and people have uploaded over 100 videos, regular and remixed, of his appearance on the website (And people are still uploading videos of it).
