Good thing you didn't get that one!!! You'd be there for days, if not weeks, just to find out if you'd even make it!!!MarleysGh0st wrote:The Ithaca Journal has a short article about the trial in today's paper. I suspect national coverage of the case will be, uhhh, somewhat limited.![]()
I had no hint what the case was going to be, before it began. Coincidentally, when I woke up yesterday there was a report on the radio about a murder case starting in Cortland County. This morning's report said that the first day's voir dire only resulted in two jurors being selected for that one, so far!

I would like to serve, but every summons I get, the trial is canceled because it's pled out.peacock2121 wrote:I like jury duty.
There's a hot case going on right now I'd really like to get, but I think those summonses have already gone out. A lesser public official was arrested for breaking and entering. I'd probably never get empaneled; I'm absolutely convinced that there's not only reasonable doubt, there is absolutely no doubt that he's guilty.

Re: Time for Jury Duty
We had 300 jurors in the room next door yesterday. Then the federal judge who was about to go on trial plead guilty to one charge, retired as a judge, and the prosecutors dropped the others. (You can probably find this case if you want to but I'm not supposed to be saying anything to anyone about it. The spokesman for our organization is supposed to be doing that.)
Those potential jurors were dismissed but we had about 30 in the library all morning waiting for buses or rides. Bumped up our patron count.

I sort of liked the 'he could have charmed the monkeys out of the trees' part. Not the alleged or not crime.Bob78164 wrote:I think I found it. --Bobandrewjackson wrote:We had 300 jurors in the room next door yesterday. Yes. I think Sprots left out a "no" between "only" and "reasonable."TheConfessor wrote:Isn't that self-contradictory?SportsFan68 wrote:I'm absolutely convinced that there's not only reasonable doubt, there is absolutely no doubt that he's guilty.

Cal's right. You know how you can accept changes in a Word tracked document? Let's just say I accepted Cal's changes.TheCalvinator24 wrote:Yes.
