LAST DAY! - Attention ALL Lyrically Speaking Players!!!

#1 Post by littlebeast13 » Mon Feb 23, 2009 8:29 am

We are in the final 3 weeks of the 2009 Winter LS (Please, please, hold your applause), and for the finale, I'd like to try something that I also did for the finale of my first LS contest in October 2002... and that is have an all-request LS game!

Anyone who has played and earned points in the 2009 LS up through this point and is listed in the standings I posted this morning may, and is strongly encouraged to participate! Everyone from those battling it out at the top, to those who plod out a few points everyday, even those who have apparently given up on playing! I'd like to have as many of this year's players as possible help create this year's finale, and everyone who submits a list of songs will have one of theirs used in the game.... so the more people who send in their requests, the bigger the final game will be!

For those who are willing to participate, please PM me a list of 3 songs you'd like to have used, ranked in the order you'd like me to consider them. Obviously, any songs that have already been used this year (or will be used in a future game) will not be eligible, and I will also not consider any song that I consider to be too obscure that nobody will be able to get it. This is the reason I'd like you to submit 3 songs, so that if I have to disqualify your top choice, I can move on down the line to your next selection......

Song requests must be submitted to my PM box no later than 7 AM CST on Monday March 9th, so I have a few days to put the game together and check songs for past use....

Thank you in advance to everyone who helps create this year's finale!

Excellent. I'll send Melo some ideas.

I just hope that he doesn't try to submit "I'm Not in Love". :P

Yay! I hope you use ALL THREE of my songs!

So I can get more than one . . .

Sent. Of course I sent more than three, because I'm disobedient... :P

Well, if people don't send in songs, they can't complain they don't even know ONE....

I've got my iTunes open, and I can send you some more! Mostly very upbeat stuff--that's me!

I like your first selection, and it's not in any future game, so you're good to go unless you have something even better you want to use....

I can't wait to see what Marley requests......

As soon as I posted, a truly WTF? selection popped up, but nobody would get it. It was one of my free songs, and it's actually pretty good, but I doubt anyone else would be familiar with the work of the inimitable

I was busy yesterday, but I'm thinking about it. I'm a little put off by your rule about "I will also not consider any song that I consider to be too obscure that nobody will be able to get it."

Do you want us to supply some lyrics for the question or just the title and performer?

Title and artist is fine.

Most of the songs that have been submitted to me already have me scratching my head, so don't worry too much about obscurity. But make sure it's something post-19th Century.... :P :P :P

Now, right there I've got a problem. What do you have against 19th Century music?

I suppose I could offer some 20th and 21st Century choices, if you insist...

But you better not invoke the "too obscure" rule just because they're not in your genre of musical tastes! :P

Pea, could you resend yours with just the titles and artists instead of links. There are a lot of lyrics sites out there that are good at making my computer act squirrelly, and none of the sites you linked to are ones I trust to use for LS...

There's only one lyrics site I trust -- http://ntl.matrix.com.br/pfilho/html/ma ... index.html

Mac or Tribe or somebody sent it to me a long time ago.

It didn't have Driver's Seat or Sniff'n the Tears on it, but I made it work.

I have had that site in my favorites since my first LS in '02 (Though I found it on my own). It's good for most songs pre-1999, though there always seems to be a few songs not on there, so I have to roam elsewhere....
