Re: 2009 Bored Oscar Pool
I am still second guessing my Best Actor pick. I went with Rourke, but it very well could be Penn. I did the Regis-recommended going with my first instinct and stuck with my original choice, but I really had to fight myself to stick with it.
I did change my original screenplay pick from "Wall-E" to "Milk" 'cuz I can't see a "Milk" shutout happenin'.

And this year's Best Supporting Actress is...
Penélope Cruz!
Clem, Daniel, Melly, Reeg, Skoop, and TBone each get a point and are the only six players left who are still in the running for the perfect score bonus.

Best Original Screenplay goes to...
"Milk"!
I get a point, as do Bazoodee, Chance, Clem, KT, Melly, Ontellen, Reeg, Skoop, and TBone.
Clem, Melly, Reeg, Skoop, and TBone have two points.
Daniel is no longer eligible for the gift card.

Best Adapted Screenplay Oscar goes to...
Who else? Simon Beaufoy for "Slumdog Millionaire"!
A point for me, as well as Bazoodee, Chance, Clem, Daniel, Goongas, KT, Mark, Ontellen, Reeg, Sisyphean, Skoop, and TBone.
Melly took a gamble on "Frost/Nixon", but it did not pay off. She's out of the running.
Clem, Reeg, Skoop, and TBone are still in.

"WALL-E" is the winner of Best Animated Feature, so everybody except Thousandaire gets a point.
But she probably doesn't care.

Re: 2009 Bored Oscar Pool
"Benjamin Button" wins for Art Direction, while "The Duchess" picks up Best Costume Design.
Nuts... Skoop went for "The Dark Knight" for Art Direction. She'll have to wait until next year for the gift card.
Clem, Reeg, and TBone are 6-for-6 and are still in the hunt.

Best Cinematography Oscar goes to "Slumdog Millionaire".
Since TBone picked "Benjamin Button", Clem and Reeg are the only ones left with a spotless ballot.

Here comes Best Supporting Actor.
And the winner is...
no surprise. Heath Ledger!
Second Chance took a chance on Josh Brolin, but couldn't capitalize.

Best Visual Effects goes to "Benjamin Button".
Best Sound Editing goes to "The Dark Knight".
Best Film Editing and Sound Mixing goes to "Slumdog Millionaire".
Unfortunately, neither Clem nor Reeg picked "Slumdog" to win Best Sound Mixing, so there will be no gift card winner this year. I'll have to carry over the value of this year's gift card to next year's Oscar Pool.

Re: 2009 Bored Oscar Pool
Thwarted by sound mixing again!
Actually, I usually mess up foreign film and doc short--too often I just make wild guesses.
If we had been in the same pool as last year, we could have been contenders!
