Point conceded. At the first Kaufman County Men's Club meeting over which I presided as President, the speaker said that he thought a Second American Revolution may be coming. Crazy talk like that does nothing but hurt our cause.Jeemie wrote:Oh I saw it...but those guys are insane already!TheCalvinator24 wrote:You didn't see the early manifestations of Bush Derangement Syndrome?Jeemie wrote:BTW to journey into the RW blogosphere is both fascinating and slightly terrifying...I do not believe I have ever witnessed thousands of people undergoing mental breakdown all at the same time before.
PS As bad as "the libs" can get, I rarely saw threads calling for secession, civil war, or a revolution. This are commonplace from the "cons" today.

Re: My letter to Sen. Harkin
Air America aired here in Atlanta for around a year about the time of the 2004 elections on a station that used to play Muzak music. It got zero ratings and was eventually replaced by some pre-recorded financial shows, which may not have gotten much better ratings but were, I gather, cheaper for the station.
Radio stations are out to make money and it's a dog-eat-dog world out there. Long time favorite disk jockies and other on-air personalities have been dropped like a hot potato in favor of something else that management thinks is cheaper or will deliver better ratings or both. A couple stations have fired their entire on-air staffs overnight and replaced them with canned programming. It's not a matter of red or blue; it's a matter of green. Most of these stations would air the Osama bin Laden Hour if it got ratings.
The fact is that for the most part, right wing radio shows get better ratings than left wing shows. There's a lot of reasons for this, not the least of which is that a lot of people who would be attracted to left wing radio often wind up following PBS or other alternatives instead or just plain not listening to radio period.
The last two elections showed that Democrats and liberals do not have to worry about right wing radio as a threat to their political future. They cleaned the Republicans' clocks despite Rush, Sean, Neal Boortz and every other host going into overdrive against them. For the most part, those radio stations are preaching to the choir. However, most radio and television is also niche programming of one sort or another. Right wing radio and sports radio are formats that have proven they will draw numbers. Left wing radio hasn't, and unless and until it does there shouldn't be pressure to get what little political commentary there is off the air.

its good to have wingnut radio. The networks ignore th 60+ white male demo. These people need something to fill their days, and listening to complaints from former dj's turned political and economic experts does the job.
The only other place to get the insights provided by rush, sean, bill, neal, and Sir G's guy Dr(of zoology) Michael Savage is quarter beer nite at the local bowling alley. Its better for the owgs to keep the lesabre in the garage.
If there were such a thing as a Quality Doctrine, then congress should be involved and get David Gergen and Chris Hitchens their own shows.Or for the sleep challenged, George Will.

Actually, Savage is one of the few guys I listen to that actually gets really pissed off at what's going on in this congress. He's even more pissed off that I am but he's a lot closer and considerably more knowledgeable than I am. But, I can't take a steady diet of him. I have to listen to Enigma after listening to him to calm myself down.BigDrawMan wrote:its good to have wingnut radio. The networks ignore th 60+ white male demo. These people need something to fill their days, and listening to complaints from former dj's turned political and economic experts does the job.

I would like to see Ward Churchill get his own show. I think I would listen to that show if I could find it on a stream. I'm sure I would find him more comic relief than either Chris Matthew or Olberman.

Ward looks like the kinda guy who is always late and forgets to wear his pants.
I listen to savage during baseball season, as he is on after the Bucs(some would say listening to the bucs is much sorrier than listening to rush).
I can take about a half hour.I want him to have a total breakdown on the air.He is mentally ill, yet I like hearing him talk about his life/restauarants/sailing and whatnot. His rants are ghostian in their circuitous ramblage.
i love chris matthews

The problem, Bob, as I see it is that you confuse the truth for bias.

What? - you can't dictate a number of stations and let the free market decide. I'll agree that the ownership of radio stations by large conglomerates has made radio suck out loud in the US. But the free market has shown little appetite for Air America type programming.NellyLunatic1980 wrote:I say the conservatives can keep their microphones and their 650 talk radio stations. It's great to be counted, Galahad! Last Stat I read that said on any given issue only 5% of voters even bother to write their representatives. So when I write to mine, I feel like I have just made 20 Votes!

How is quoting things Matthews has actually SAID "assholian dweebishness"?BigDrawMan wrote:Jeemie wrote:Do you like his mind?BigDrawMan wrote:i love chris matthews

You were making posts getting on "rightwing wingnuts" and then you made a point to mention an "Obama wingnut" you like.
You either dislike bias or you don't...WHEREVER you find it.
And Chris Matthews is definitely biased.
My "assholian dweebishness" is only for those who act "holier-than-thou" when they are not.
