Tropicana recently changed it's.
It looks like cheap ass orange juice now.
Sting thought I cheaped out and wasn't drinking it.
Used to be:

I usually buy Tropicana as well and I suppose the label won't change that unless the quality of the product starts to reflect the packaging.
But I thought the new label was remarkably ugly as well. Hard to distinguish from the generic stuff now.

I agree, it was a bad change.
The shoulda looked at the detergent aisle -- all of 'em are a combination of blue and something bright in contrast, and you ignore that at your peril. I'm convinced that Cheer and Tide are the best; wonder how much of that is the label and how much is true after reading Vance Packard's The Hidden Persuaders.

The prices stayed the same when the initial 1X to 2X conversion was made, but rose along with everything else last year when fuel prices skyrocketed.....

Tropicana is in the Pepsi family of products, so no big surprise they changed designs too....

I totally agree with you. I emailed to complain about the new packaging on the plastic container (96 oz?) and they sent me 3 $1 off coupons. Then when I emailed to complain that the new package failed and sprayed OJ all over my kitchen I got $2 off coupons and one for $4.50 off. It makes it a lot easier to tolerate such changes when saving money...I highly recommend it...just go to their website and go through the contact us links.

I personally think they (Pepsi- the Pepsi makeover looks cheap-ass, too) changed labels to look more generic, and give the impression of being inexpensive...so that more people would buy them in this day and age.
Look cheap, and shrink the package sizes (when Tropicana shrunk the size of the container pictured below, they rolled out it out by calling it a "new and improved easy-pour bottle". Bull! It's no easier to pour than the old bottle. But NO- they weren't trying to distract shoppers from the fact the bottle shrank while the price didn't. Oh no sir!)

YES - that's the one I complained about to get my coupons. First I said I can't believe you changed the size and I got the "customers like the easy pour bottle better, especially customers with children" and I got my $1 off coupons.
Then (and this really did happen) I purchased the easy pour bottle, took the little plastic tab out, snapped the lid shut...shake...shake...shake and then POW (okay I didn't know what word to use to simulate an OJ explosion) and OJ was literally on every surface in the kitchen. It took almost an hour to clean up and I lost half the OJ in the container. So I responded back to the "customers love our packaging" email and told them what happened, and got the new set of coupons, along with an explanation that they had many issues with packaging and that yet another redesign was in the works, to hit shelves in approximately 4 months. So we'll see what that is, I don't think that just meant changing the label.

PS At Wal-Mart, I can get the 128-oz jugs for a better unit cost than this Easy Pour bottle. It pours just as easily- imagine that!
I have used the Easy Pour bottles, and only once have I had anything similar to what happened to you happen. I usually keep my finger firmly on the snap-cap when I shake, though. I didn't the time I made a mess on the floor.

They both did it around the same time, and darned if I didn't pick up a bottle of Pepsi thinking it was Diet Pepsi.
The new Tropcana and Pepsi designs have small print. Have they decided, like some quiz shows, that they don't need MAWGs?

I love it when packaging changes involve lessening the quantity of the product without lowering the cost. The most recent culprit in this fleecing is Xtra Detergent, which went from a wide jug to a slimmer but fatter jug. I didn't even notice that the contents had shrunk until a few days after we started getting them in, but the contents went from 170 ounces to 150.....
My all time favorite case of this though was about 4 or 5 years ago when Wisk changed from the old familiar 100 ounce bottle to a much slimmer bottle that only contained 80 ounces. After about 2 months, the 100 ounce bottles started coming back in, but guess what it said on the front label....
