Just wanted to say I really like the quilt that is your current avatar.

Me, too! When I first saw it, my initial thought was that it was my favorite of all the quilt avatars shown so far.

oooooooooooooo, what gorgeous blues! Is it paper pieced? I don't have the patience for doing one that intricate.

Anytime I do a prayer quilt in blue I have to fight my husband to take it out of the house. He loves anything blue!

It is a very beautiful quilt Christie! Kudos!

As a quilter, I would love more info, is it paper pieced and how large is it? Did you quilt it yourself?

Please share!

Thanks everyone! I didn't center the picture very well in the avatar.

It is a quilt a friend helped me name 'Crysallized Night'. I almost went into crystallography as it fascinates me.

I took a class at the Vermont Quilt Festival on this one. I think it would have been way easier paper pieced but it was done with templates and strip piecing.

It is from a book called 'Traditions with a Twist'. If you look closely, and can see it in the avatar, it is actually based on a Ohio Star that has been distorted. The top squished in the bottom flaired out to form a triangle. And then the two triangled stars are joined at the base to form a square with reversed colors in the opposing half squares.

It was not a quilt for beginners and I put it away when I first got back which was a mistake. 'Cuz restarting it was a pain.

It was hand quilted by me when I used to take the train to work.

I'll go see if there is a website with other pictures. But I am really swamped at work.

It is very beautiful and takes immense creative talent -- but often, the people who craft these beautiful creations will say they're not talented or creative.

For the record, Christie and KSBirchtree and all their crafty colleagues are highly creative and talented people, not to mention the joy they bring into the lives of others.

Christie, when I saw this earlier today, I actually gasped. It took my breath away. Beautiful, beautiful work!

I do! Though you forgot the duct tape!

Christie's quilt is beautiful too! I want to wrap myself up in it on those cold nights when Annie won't let me sleep next to her....

Many of these (squirrel) migrations were probably caused by food shortages as well as habitat overcrowding. We solved that for them. We not only reduced their habitat, we reduced the whole species by about 90%. The least we can do now is share a little birdseed with them.

Yeah, except when they say buy a yard, you buy 2, just in case.

But if they say buy 2 yds. you buy 4.

And if it is fabric you just can't leave the store without, well...
