OK, this episode bothered me in several ways:

1. I understand that the future is malleable, but they've sure gone out of their way to show that the future from which "goth Peter" came can't happen (no happy familiy life for Parkman, for instance).

2. If the heroes have to go "off the grid" to avoid capture, how did Hiro and Ando get to India? Hiro couldn't take them, and surely their names are in a DNF database.

3. So Peter can still duplicate powers, but now only one at a time. Somehow I think that makes him a better character.

4. Sylar as surrogate father to the "microwave kid" just doesn't make sense, especially given Sylar's comment in the diner that "emotions cloud the judgment" (maybe he's channeling his Spock character).

Point #2 - good point. Just as I wonder how a US Senator from NY can work so much under the standard publicity radar, I wonder how the president/chairman of a decent-sized Japanese corporation can be so absent from work. Arguably Hiro has company planes at his disposal, but if they're monitoring phone and credit card action ...

Point #4 - I see nothing good coming out of this relationship. But the kid is a snot. I'm already rooting for Sylar in that pairing.

Added point - it was a bit disconcerting to see Claire's new boyfriend in the KFC commercials aired during the show (w/o geek glasses, he's the guy awestruck by their new value menu).

1. Well, the Heroes writers obviously don't agree with the Lost writers about "whatever happened, happened."

2. Excellent question. And, after the irate groom gives in for no good reason, the whole point for that Indian excursion turned out to be receiving a fax that was waiting for them? A fax!?

3. Agreed. Characters like Peter and Sylar and Papa Petrelli who can collect an ever-growing set of powers are way over the top.

4. The writers make Sylar's character blow whichever way their mood strikes them. After last season's whole "empathy" story arc, he abruptly went bad again. Now we're getting hints that he might not be totally beyond redemption, after all. Or else the writers like that Sith Master/Apprentice angle.

So, next week we find out about HRG.

As a fan of comic books I know that one has to suspend one's disbelief (a man who can fly?? geez) but even comic books have a certain logic to them. "Heroes", as a video comic book, should also have some sort of internal logic (as "Lost" does, so I'm told). And in the comic books there is always time to go back and pick up a loose plot thread. But in a TV show one's longevity is only as good as the fan loyalty, so it doesn't do the show any good to drop things without so much as an acknowledgement (Peter's Irish girlfriend, the "spark" that catalyzed the heroes' powers, Claire's flying boyfriend, to name but three).
