Secret Santa?

#1 Post by Snaxx » Fri Nov 30, 2007 7:10 am

I got a reminder e-mail from Elfster, the site that coordinated a past Secret Santa for the Bored. I wonder if we are or could do it on this forum. It was fun the years we did it.

I could help get it started since I'll be home this weekend recovering from the flu. The only negative is that I do not have Bored access at work so I would not be able to respond to posts during business hours.

I am in! But I miss Ging who was one of the first organizers. Or was it that she was the first one I was a secret sant for? It still makes me think of her and wish she would come visit.

Over at the GC there is a list for Christmas cards too. Any chance we can set something like that up here? Voluntary participation, of course!

I would co-ordinate a list throught the Private message thing to keep it safe.

I would love to participate in a Secret Santa deal.

I would be delighted to take part in a Secret Santa operation.

I know where to find elf boots.

Thanks for reminding me, I was going to ask over there if we would do it again this year since that list had a number of outdated entries.

I'm in. I love Secretage.

That doesn't sound right.

I love Secretsantage.

Much better.

I created an account at Elfster, a site that blindly draws names from those who have registered. This is the site MMFF used when she hosted Secret Santa. This means I would not know who is whose elf. Anyone interested can Private Message me their e-mail for an invitation. I may send a couple now to those I'm sure of their email address.

How about have Elfster draw names next weekend (December 8-9) from those who have signed up by then? This would give us almost two weeks before Dec 20 or so when we would reveal ourselves.

For anyone new to this, we create 'Merry Men' identities and post things of interest for the person (or four-legged friend) that we are assigned to.

The site is

I sent invitations to
Timsterino (bellsouth addr)
PSM (aol)
Kay (yahoo)
SC (aol)

Couldn't find Christie1111's and only have GO for Sprots and I think GO mail is kaput.

I'm confused. How do we associate ourselves with a group? Do you have to do that? I've signed up Sybil (using my gmail account, since she doesn't have one of her own), cause I have too much stuff already, and she wants to meet my online friends.

However, since she's a cat and all, I'll probably end up doing most of the heavy lifting.

Did you go to the link Snaxx provided, cause I don't see Sybil in the group anywhere.

I can email the invitation to you. I do not remember if you used your real name or killertomato at gmail; let me know by PM or email jacorbett 70 at MSN.

I would really like to send cards to everyone.

I'm afraid that I'm not going to have enough time for Secret Santa. I can't get to the bored from work, and I'm really busy with class stuff most of the time.

Also, how much information do I change when I sign up? Do I create a fake screen name? What about a fake real name? Would creating a fake email address be advisable? Do I become a shell of who I really am? Do I add that coconut to the frog eye salad that "I" love, but that Sam can't stand and just tell her to pick it out?

Just curious...

Just stopping by to say that, while I will not participate in the "Secret Santa" exchange, we should celebrate the true American spirit of Christmas and kill somebody in their sleep.

It's kind of a scary though to me since I sleep next to him.

Yes, but that motto is highly inaccurate!
