My surgery on Monday/Be away for a while

#1 Post by mellytu74 » Fri Feb 13, 2009 12:39 pm

As some of you know, I am having my left hip replaced on Monday, February 16.

I'll be in the hospital through Thursday and recuperating at home for the month/five weeks following.

I suspect I will not be spending much time here, although I will try to pick up next weekend's LS game and all subsequent LS games. And I will skim the Bored to keep up with things.

Boonie has some email addresses and phone numbers; he'll keep everyone informed.

I'll be here on and off during the weekend (and probably at FNGD tonight).

So, Happy Birthday in advance to anyone having a birthday through March 31. If I don't get to you that day. :D

May your surgery go perfectly. May you recover so fast that even your PTs are amazed (but give themselves all the credit.)

Good luck.

Be well and have a swift recovery! We'll leave the light on for you and a trail of breadcrumbs.
I just ordered chicken and an egg from Amazon. I'll let you know.

Mel,

Good luck with the replacement. Make sure we are kept up to speed on how it goes. If you can get a discount on a pair purchase I'll buy the right side. I don't think I'll be very far behind you. I get my 2nd opinion on Monday and if it is the same as the first I will likely schedule my replacement as soon as possible.

March is looking like a great month for me to lounge around and have a buxom blonde with a Norwegian accent give me rub downs and make me comfortable.

Huh? The post op therapy won't be like that? Hmmm.... Better look at that brochure again.

They always have so much trouble getting the accent right in those brochures, BiT.

Your therapist is a buxom blonde, but she's not Norwegian. Actually, she's a former East German weightlifter.

Will that be a problem for you?

I hope everything goes perfectly and that you're back in the pink right away.

My sense is that this is a very good thing for you. I talked to a co-worker who I think is just a little older than you, and he has not the slightest regret at having it done. The only he missed this year is the ski season.

Best of luck with the surgery and recovery!

Melly, since I've done both the knee replacement procedures and SIL has had her hips done since 1972, I know this is a major event in your life. I will be thinking about you on Monday and hope all goes well. Physio is the most important thing to remember. Keep us updated on how you're doing.

Love, Ellen
