I avoided quoting your rant specifically to avoid implying that I hold you responsible. I'm just pointing out that threads like this make the Bored a less pleasant place to be and that we all have other tools for dealing with such issues, from PMs, to (in some instances) off-line contact such as e-mail or telephone, to letting others make your points for you, to simply turning the other cheek. I've been getting some recent practice thinking about my responsibility for maintaining our sense of community, so it's been on my mind. --Bob

I dunno about you but I'm thoroughly enjoying myself watching everyone make snippy and, frankly, hilarious comments back and forth....

What a jerk. The reason is your previous posts to me. By 2 different board names. Which makes you someone who hides behind a variety of board names. Among other things.

(Emphasis added.) This is factually false. "Hides" implies an intent to conceal. For some reason probably lost in the dim mists of the Bored's past, Fanny doesn't care to have any of her handles reach 1300 posts. So after using a handle for 1299 posts, she switches her "Bored identity." But SisypheanFan is no more a pseudonym than, say, ghostjmf. (I assume that's not the name on your birth certificate, anymore than Bob78164 is the name on mine.) --Bob

Nope, but I don't change it "every time I reach 13,000 posts". EEEEEEEE! Scaredy Cat!
And I am, quite boringly & checkably, using my real initials. Which came from a login I had for a long time in the real world that used my real initials. Then TPTB merged that account with one with my real name on it, which is just "too much info" for the internet. So I generally sign in to boards with "jmf (ghost)", as a sub for "jmf (mynamehere)" that used to appear in e-mail. Only when the names get jammed together, as some boards, like this one. do, "jmfghost" just didn't look readable, so I went for ghostjmf. Definitely too much info here.

And now I am going to buy some VCR tapes, as I am out of ones with space, & I wanna tape some stuff tonight. (Even people who Got With The Program, & Bought TiVos, eventually run out of space. I know that for a fact!)

I just googled, since I didn't know the Greek root. It appears that the Greek root is "sarkasmus," "sarkazein", etc. literally biting the lips in rage sort of thing. I couldn't find Sisyphus referenced. Poor Sisyphus wasn't sarcastic, he was just tahred.
That's the spirit!

Sisyphean Fan, as opposed to Sisyphus, Original Article, responded a few weeks/days/whatever ago to me saying to christie1111 that I was being sarcastic in some phrase christie1111 claimed not to understand (christie1111 was being sarcastic, & I knew it) with that dictionary "Greek Roots" def of "sarcasm" you just looked up, & went on to say that that's who I am, a bitter, caustic (oh heck I can't remember the actual buncha words, & am not going to even look it up myself!) person. Which was waaaaaay over the top.

Hey, John Stewart gets awards for being sarcastic that even have "sarcastic" written right into the "Its why we love him" award-presenter's speech. OK, I know I am not John Stewart. Just an example. OK.
Oh, my God! Is THAT what this whole thing is about? Sisyphus doesn't have anything to do with sarcasm, because one has nothing to do with the other! Like I said, don't go spouting off about stuff when you have NFI what you're talking about. Or what anybody says or does, for that matter.

I don't know if it's narcissism or paranoia but here's a newsflash, toots: Not everything has to do with you! Not everything said or done is some sinister plot designed to rain down misery on your silly ass. In fact, very little has anything to do with you and practically nothing I say or do has anything to do with you. You are so damned busy trying to ferret out any slight or inference (real or imagined) for which to take offense that you have absolutely no idea about what I do or why I do it.

I could be wrong and if so, my bad, but I don't think Christie was being sarcastic to you. I think she's just a genuinely nice person that you were being unnecessarily mean and nasty to for no other reason that it apparently is the only thing that brings you joy. Since Christie is a person that can actually be hurt by a creature such as yourself, I spoke up. And I took the definition from a current dictionary, so you can take your modern parlance and shove it in your bitter, caustic piehole. And then wash it all down with a big of cup of STFU.

And, it's "Jon" Stewart. Because, you know, spelling is important.

Sniff, thanks Fanny!

That's okay.
Possible Way TMI
A certain person was telling me about female circumcision the other day and I still don't get how that works.
Alls I'm saying is that I'm not very brilliant either. I am; however, awesome. So I guess that makes up for it.

I'd be okay with that being edited! Edit away! Your intentions are good! My apologies, I was trying to figure out what that word even was and I gave up and it threw off my juju entirely! Ruined my spelling all around!!

Still not sure what it has to do with the spoiler topic though!! :?

It means that there are things we all don't know.

Plus I'm wondering if anyone actually knows and I can't google it because then I'd be doing what the person in question wanted.....

Y'know I knew that someone was going to post this. There are too many people on this Bored with (Deleted because 'If you don't have something nice to say don't say it') for that to go by unnoticed.

Not everyone uses linguistic keyboards. I don't. I certainly know what she meant by the word facade, even without the mark.

I type fay-cayed because I'm too dumb to make that little mark -- same reason I type grumble copyright thingie instead of just posting the little copyright thingie. I can use 22 smilies no problem.

I don't have a linguistic keyboard. I just copied the symbol in from Word.

The pointy stick was because of ghost's parenthetical insult. If she's going to insult who knows how many people by saying that some of us are so dumb, we'll have to go look up the meaning of a simple common French word, she'd damn better spell it correctly. French is all about the accents and special characters. Had she left out the parenthetical insult, I would never have responded.

And clem, I think we all know you would have done it first, had you figured out how.
