I got a message recommending to add (Christie1111) as a friend.

A large number of my H.S. class is there but I come from relatively small, closely-knit H.S.

So did I but I turned her down. She claimed to have a different name. Obviously an MM.

I found someone from high school I remember and asked him to be my friend.

I did that, too.

Oh the pressure to join continues to build! Here I've been merrily going along my way completely in the 20th century when no fewer than three people (and now the Bored) have told me I should join Facebook in just the past week! Do I have to climb out of my cave and conform? Must I give up my last few minutes of life not spent in front of a computer? Will I ever be able to visit the Bored again (it's been a couple of weeks for me lately) if I join? Aaacccchhhhh!

You should join Facebook! But if you are anything like me, yes, your time on the Bored will be significantly reduced. I tend to spend free time on Facebook since there are so many people there and so much to catch up with!
