Is Julio related to Miss South Carolina
So, here is poor Julio. So overcome with emotion that The Messiah has called on him to ask a question that he can barely get the words out.
"Mr. President, I'm currently a student at Edison State College in my second semester. And, okay, I've been at the same job, which is McDonald's, for four-and-a-half years because of the fact that I can't find another job. Now, with the fact that I've been there for as long as I've been there, do you have any plan or any idea of making one that has been there for a long time receive any better benefits than what they've already received?"
Huh?
I gotta believe that Julio was a plant. Why hasn't he been excoriated like Joe The Plumber? Do you think Big Brother will look into his background to make sure he has paid his taxes or to make sure there is no funny business going on in his life? Hmmm...

Yes, I do. The media types with nothing better to do than play "gotcha" are certainly already on the case. It took 'em a few days to find the good stuff on Joe. Wait a bit.Sir_Galahad wrote: Do you think Big Brother will look into his background to make sure he has paid his taxes or to make sure there is no funny business going on in his life?
I just ordered chicken and an egg from Amazon. I'll let you know.

My assumptions. He said this was his 2nd semester and assuming he graduated from high school last May and assuming he was 18 or 19 at that time, how could have he worked for McDonalds for 4 12 years? Don't you have to be 16 to work there?Sir_Galahad wrote:So, here is poor Julio. So overcome with emotion that The Messiah has called on him to ask a question that he can barely get the words out.

I started work at 15...if he did that and his birthday was in the last few months and he was 19 when he graduated high school, theoretically it could work out.kusch wrote:My assumptions. Unless his state has a stricter standard, or unless McDonald's does, the FLSA (Fair Labor Standards Act) allows kids to start working at 14, except no operating dangerous machinery, no working after 9 p.m., no working during school hours, and no overtime (over 40 hours).kusch wrote:My assumptions. Big assumption. Knowing the kids I know who work at McDonald's, my guess would be that he left high school, with or without graduating, content with his job at Mickey Ds. After a year or two in the real world, he finally figured out that this college thing might not be such a bad idea after all.kusch wrote:My assumptions. I'm beginning to understand why Shrub never had press conferences. Sirge, do you really believe that a softball question in a presidential press conference in the first month of office is equivalent to a hostile questioner at a campaign event in the midst of a competitive presidential campaign? Or could you possibly be searching for ways to drag Obama down to Bush's level?
I was asked by denizens of this Bored to stop using sardonic nicknames like Shrub to refer to President Bush during his term in office. And I complied. Can we expect the same level of "Respect For The Office" from the other side of the fence?
Yeah, I thought not.

Actually, what's funnier still, is that he claims to be (or wants to be) a communications major!
