US Airways Flight 1549, as we all know had a disastrous encounter with a flock of birds. Analysis of the remains and feathers in the engines determined that the birds that actually caused the engines to fail were of the family Alaudidae. This, of course, means that on Jan. 15th, 2009 - the passengers and crew of Flight 1549
