Hip Replacement - Anybody had this done?

A thought:

Being in pain or discomfort or putting up with not feeling great with every step - wouldn't one rather be pain free during 'youthful' years than putting it off to be pain free during decades when you will probably have pain somewhere else as well?

My m-i-l put off having her knee done. She was in pain during years when she had what it took be be active. She had her knee done and now has other 'reasons' for not moving. She is pain free in her knee and now it's her back that keeps her sitting. If she had had her knee done before the arthritis set in in her back, she would have had more years of feeling good.

Just a thought.

What you say makes sense, but you must also consider the risks with surgery. If the surgery were a guaranteed success, no complications, etc. then the only reason I see not to do it is to put off the incremental pain of recovery and rehab. Incremental pain does not bother me. Just the risk of un-success. But, I will likely go to it as soon as I can schedule it in my life schedule.

What bothers me most is the inability to play with my kids. They want me to go running with them. My son is just getting into baseball. So I will move as soon as I can on this.

We SAW a DeLorean today! In a resale parking lot. Very high-end resale lot but a resale lot nonethless.

Shouldda gone in and bid -- see if we meet with Doc Brown and whip that flux capacitor engine before the 16th!
