I gotta call back from J!

#1 Post by Im_Ace » Fri Feb 06, 2009 4:19 pm

Actually, my son did.

Actually, it was an email to me about him passing.

The twins are 10 years old and they participated in the kids J! online test last month. Lonnie knew he had not gotten all of the 30 questions correct and didn't think anything more than it was fun doing the test. Reanna also enjoyed doing it. I told them to tell all of their friends at school about the test so that they could also take the test, which they did, but unfortunately none of them took the test.

I have responded to the email and will get a confirmation "within 10 days".

It will be fun for him, should he decide to attend the live test.

He probably won't pass that one, but it matters not. If I can get my kids to become TV game show junkies, is that such a bad thing? :-)

It's interesting that he passed the kids test and I didn't come close to passing the adult one.

BTW, his grandmother was on J! in 1964 with Art Fleming.

For anyone interested in knowing what the confirmation email looks like, here tit is:

Congratulations! Your child has been selected for an appointment in our upcoming Jeopardy! contestant search for children (ages 10-12) in the Name of the city intentionally left blank area, exclusively for those who successfully passed the online test. This is the next step in becoming a Jeopardy! contestant. To be eligible, your child can’t have taken the Jeopardy! test in the past year. If they meet that criteria, we have reserved the following appointment for them:

When: Date intentionally left blank Time: 11:30am

Where: Place intentionally left blank

You must RSVP within two business days of receipt of this email to secure your place in the audition. When you RSVP via phone at 310-244-5581 between 9am-5pm PST, provide the following (if you get the voice mail, leave a message):

1) Date and time of your invitation listed above
2) Your name
3) Your child’s name
4) Their date of birth
5) Your City & State

Due to overwhelming demand we can only hold their spot for two business days. If you respond after that period of time, and if we still have space, we will be happy to provide them with an appointment.

Their appointment is non-transferable, and only those who receive this invitation directly from Jeopardy! may RSVP to book an appointment. Each RSVP will be matched against an invite list and forwarded invitations will not be honored.

Once you RSVP, we will email you a letter of confirmation within TEN business days that will give you the exact location and other information regarding trying out. You will NOT receive a confirmation phone call. If you don’t receive the confirmation e-mail within TEN day, please call again. Should you have a major conflict with the time and date provided, please explain the nature of the situation when you call.

If your child is physically challenged in any way, please contact Corina Nusu at 310-244-5581 prior to the audition to discuss any accommodations you may require.

We hope to hear from you soon!

Best Regards,

The Jeopardy! Contestant Department

That's enough of the negativity--he passed the online test didn't he?

And he's the child of a BB!

I agree with Estonut that this sounds like an excellent audition hook!

Good idea, and if you can pass for about 44 years old, your kid might want to consider embellishing the story. Good luck!

I know what you mean, but I'm sorry, you're nowhere near old enough yet to talk about "back in my day." --Bob

Wooohooo!! Go, Lonnie!!
When: Date intentionally left blank
I will send the Good Vibes out now. Enough, in fact, to reverberate until he actually does take the test.

And I really hope that one day Lonnie takes Astronomy for $800, opens the Daily Double, and sees:

Best of Luck to Lonnie.

Tell him to remember to Look At The Categories. They might contain a clue, if the actual question produces a "what huh?"

I forgot to do that on the one written test I took, & flunked. I kept forgetting to do that on the on line tests, 2 of them, I've taken, & flunked.

I forget to do that watching the show, too, but in my defense they don't always show you the categories after the 1st whiz through.
