Carnegie Report

#1 Post by moonie » Mon Feb 02, 2009 8:39 am

What a great day!

About 30 dance groups from all around (as far as Mississippi) participated in the '1st Annual Select Invitational" performance sponsored by the American Alliance of Performing Arts Educators.

The place is beautiful... oh, the acoustics.

Inside,we were seated on the floor, but when you look up, you see 5 tiers of balconies all around. I conjured up what the Roman Colisseum would have looked like in its prime.

All the girls were great (there were some boys, as well).

Of course, I thought my kid was the best!

We actually got home for the second quarter of the Super Bowl, too.

Good day all around!

And you won BDM's points prediction! I say you won the pome, but he's balking because you dint predict the MVP.

What a coincidence!! She thought her Dad was the best. Both are correct.

What kind of dance did they do. How many kids involved?

Sounds very prestigious and ultra-cool. Congrats all around, parents and child.

Their group had 12 girls ranging in age from 13-18. They did a modern dance choreographed by the director of their school. The music was "Work" by the Ahn Trio.

Kind of a cool birthday experience (she'll be 14 tomorrow).

Very cool. One of my friends was in a singing competition at Carnegie when she was younger (middle school/high school) and to this day is the one accomplishment she is most proud of. And it makes a great item for any of those ice breaker games she'll play in college and beyond, where people try to figure out who once performed at Carnegie Hall! Hope she has a great time!!!
