Tonight's 5th Grader

#1 Post by Kazoo65 » Thu Nov 29, 2007 8:23 pm

Spoiler

Tonight I made the mistake of watching 5th Grader. Boy was it PATHETIC. The first contestant was a 21 year old college frat boy (the kind Meredith LOVES). In order to make him feel more comfortable, they brought in 5 of his frat brothers. He could pick either the frat boys or the kids to help him. It turns out the 5th graders were smarter than the frat boys-too much beer probably damaged their brain cells. He missed the $100K question-4th grade cultural studies. "Buddhism is a religion that started in what country?" He had it down to India and China. All the frat boys (including the one he had at the podium) said China. The fifth graders all said India. I knew this one because I was forced to read "Siddartha" in 11th grade world religion.

The next contestant didn't make it past the first question-first grade grammar. The question was "What is the only word NOT in the predicate of the following sentence? Nathan threw his grammar book at the wall." She didn't even know what a predicate IS. She guessed "threw." Cody, her partner, got it wrong too. He said "book." All the other kids got it right-they said "Nathan."

These folks make the contestants on BAM look like geniuses! :o

And she was "rewarded" for her failure by being asked to go on "Don't Forget the Lyrics", where she managed to crash and burn at the $10,000 level, missing the words to the "Green Acres" theme song.

Maybe. If it's not the real kazoo, whoever it is has her style down pat.
