My mom
finally decided she was tired and passed away about an hour ago.
It's for the best. She had 91 1/2 good years. We're still in the frozen tundra
here in Louisville with 172,000 still without power. We're hoping to have the service
on Monday. Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers. This week has been difficult
on the whole family.

Re: My mom
Sorry to hear that. There's never a good time for something like that to happen, but it really seems tough right now. Our condolences and best thoughts for you and your family.

My condolences. I'm glad your ordeals are over.

Oh, Kay. Knowing it was going to come doesn't help when it gets here. I am sorry. I hope you can feel the cloud of love I'm trying to send to you and your family.
I just had an overwhelming feeling that my dad is introducing himself to her right now at the orientation reception and offering to help her learn to play golf after she has a chance to reunite with many of the people she has loved down here.

Kay, I'm so sorry. I know you've had an extremely difficult week. My wish for you is that you'll figure out some way to lighten the load as you deal with all the exigencies while feeling sad over losing your mom. All my best wishes . . .

Suitguy is not bitter.
feels he represents the many educated and rational onlookers who believe that the hysterical denouncement of lay scepticism is both unwarranted and counter-productive
The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.
