Permission Slip (Steelers Football)
“““SSSIIIXXXBBBUUURRRGGGHHH”””
Official “Won’t-Be-In-On-Time” Permission Slip
In celebration of the Pittsburgh Steelers appearance in Super Bowl XLIII, I hereby request permission to report late for work on Monday, February 2, 2009.
I plan to join the entire southwestern Pennsylvania region (aka Sixburgh) and Steelers fans around the world and participate in the following activities on Super Bowl Sunday:
Shop for appropriate Steelers attire to wear all day and night of Super Bowl Sunday
Stop by the nearest supermarket to stock up on all the Steelers essentials (chipped chopped ham, jumbo, etc.) (Editor's note -- Isaly's is the best for chipped ham.)
Listen to “The Pittsburgh Steelers Polka” or other Steelers odes on the radio.
Tune into the pre-game TV broadcasts and laugh at the stories showing the dirty, smoky city of yesteryear, knowing that Pittsburgh just doesn’t look like that anymore.
Wave the Terrible Towel throughout the Super Bowl player introductions or until my arm gets tired.
Chant “Here We Go Steelers, Here We Go” non-stop during the game
Consume large quantities of pierogies, kielbasa, any Heinz product and, of course, Iron City.
All of these things will tire me out and make it necessary for me to come in late on Monday.
Boss, I appreciate your cooperation in this important matter and sincerely thank you for your understanding that my heart belongs to “Sixburgh.”
Sincerely,

I E-mailed LB with a pic I got in the same E-mailbag and can't figure out how to make it my avatar.
If anybody can do it, Studmuffin can.
If not, I'm gonna try to find a better PeaFootballBabyBoy.
Or maybe a #7.

Can I have some pierogies and kielbasa if I say I'm a fan?

You don't even need to say you're a fan. Just show up at any grocery store or restaurant with the correct amount of U.S. legal tender, and they're all yours. . .MarleysGh0st wrote:Can I have some pierogies and kielbasa if I say I'm a fan?

I won't be able to talk or Beedums will ask me how many cigarettes I smoked.
I intend for it to be a screamfest of joy!
Me and my terrible towel, my Football Baby Boy Jersey and my black thong panties.
Maybe I wear black thongs on my feet as well.

So if Pittsburgh loses then it'll be a "sickburgh" permission slip?

Re: Permission Slip (Steelers Football)
Over the next couple weeks an African American will make history and take the honor of preparing for and entering the most highly recognized position in America. He has stated from the begining that the journey would be long and that many obstacles would stand in the way. His commitment to overcoming obstacles and paving the way for higher success was clearly defined in his many press conferences.
He showed he is a leader even before taking the position. Through his dedication to preparing for the future and listening to all, he is ready to set the ground for a new era.
His team of colleagues also understand the same goal. They work every day to help him succeed. Without them he would be nobody, but with their dedication he will become the true leader.
Who is this person . . .
Mike Tomlin! Head coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers!
GO STEELERS!

Please, by all means, keep showing off and being arrogant. Why not? Your team is favored by 7. Just like the Patriots last year. You people never learn....

Re: Permission Slip (Steelers Football)
Here's the story behind that "Yes We Can" T-shirt:
http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/08351/935360-314.stm
It was originally a fundraiser for the "Goodman Furnace Pressure Valve Memorial Fund" -- yes, the designer needed $650 to fix her furnace. Her original run of 75 shirts, made for friends and family, were snapped up right away, so she & her printer partner decided to offer them to the public. I bought 'em for everybody for Christmas
The Steelers neither endorse nor oppose the design, but designer Lissa Brennan hopes that if enough people wear them, Hines Ward will notice and want to meet her

I splained it, VADame. He's hopeless. I dunno how he gets ANY As, much less earned 3.9999 or whatever the heck he's got going. . .
I bled blue for as long as the Broncos were in it . . .

Flattery will get you nowhere. But it's okay even if the Steelers lose because baseball season's coming and I'm sure you're a fan of the Rockies....and the Pirates...and the Red Sox...and the Rays...and the Phillies...SportsFan68 wrote:clem21 wrote:Really? Nope, just the Rockies.
Unless they don't make the playoffs and the Pirates do.

One problem- it's the FANS, not the TEAM, showing off and being arrogant.clem21 wrote:Please, by all means, keep showing off and being arrogant. Why not? Your team is favored by 7. Just like the Patriots last year. You people never learn....
We're fans ("pathetic" bandwagoners or not)- we're SUPPOSED to be that way!!
Last year, it was the PATRIOTS THEMSELVES that were cocky and arrogant.
Steelers will NOT be....guaranteed.

This is pure revisionist history. The Belichick-era Pats have always followed his lead and typically provide nothing in the way of bulletin board material. There were no guarantees or over-the-top pronouncements. Self-assured? Absolutely. An 18-0 team should be allowed that.
People hated them and they lost and they deserved to lose. Kick away.
Try it in 3-D:
