Snow Day

#1 Post by Buffacuse » Tue Jan 27, 2009 11:28 am

Home with the kids since in Loudoun County, VA, they use the following formula:

2" (snow) = 2' (snow Buffalo)

But fun--Buffettina just got in her first snowball flight--she pasted me.

Yay for Buffettina! :)

We just got upgraded from a Winter Storm Watch to a Winter Storm Warning. Six to ten inches predicted in this area.

I heard 3 - 7 for us this morning, I hope they don't upgrade us too. I've had enough! :(

We have the same prediction for tomorrow. And I just discovered that I left my memory stick at home. Guess I'll have to waste one of the company's blank CDs to copy stuff over in case I need to work from home tomorrow.
I just ordered chicken and an egg from Amazon. I'll let you know.

Fairfax County schools were on a scheduled teacher work day, no school for kids.

They were bummed.

All of 1-2" of snow and it's the Apocolypse (sp?) here.

Drive home will be fun...

We'll end up with 8 inches or so.

I bought all of the stuff I need to make a huge pot of pea soup and another of lentil soup.

I am sad that I do not have the stuff needed to make Christie's fabulous Portuguese Bean Soup. When I went to the grocery a few days ago, I was intent only on making sure I had enough dog food to get through the ice isolation. Where are my priorities? If given a choice, the dogs probably would rather have the soup, too.

We're now getting sleet and freezing rain through tomorrow AM--zero chance school will be open tomorrow.

See y'all then...

Are you going to be snowed in too?

Or are you already snowed in?

Looks like we're going to get hit here in Lawrenceville, but up the Hudson may miss the whole thing. Lucky Pea

I am iced in. I haven't been able to go anywhere for two days and Wednesday is iffy. Tomorrow, however, I will run out of dog food, so I shall have to get to the store one way or another. Perhaps I can find sufficient quantities of beans and sausage for soupage, too.

I will wait until mid-afternoon, however, to improve my odds of getting there and getting home again.

We could see up to 16 inches by tomorrow morni8ng. It is coming down like that snowstorm in "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer". In fact, I do believe I saw a snowman walking by outside who looks a lot like Burl Ives.

Caity has no school, Mike and I called in to work, and Nancy had the day off anyway.

Popcorn, Hot Cocoa, a movie, and a board game, followed by an evening with Idol, Lost, and Life on Mars. The plowguy will be by a couple of times to clear the big driveway. Children will get the sidewalks. I get to stay in my flannel shirt and warm sleeppants and underoos.

Life is good today.

Do they manufacture a 4 wheel Camaro? Do you have chains for the car? Snow tires? Maybe it's time to hitch up the dogs to a sled.
