Meanwhile, us vocational class types have like three different television shows on at the same time.

I'm lucky if I can hang out on the computer and pay attention to what's on the TV at the same time.... :P

And did you ever try calling the Pop Up Video tip line to see if anyone still answered?

Ha! Pop Up Video was on Vh1-C last night, but there wasn't an episode description so I ended up watching Depraved and Deranged Nutjobs We Have Known on Discovery Times.

It's only 10 minutes!
I don't suppose you can try to take it on Tuesday, but if something goes wrong you can try again on Wednesday? I just remember the days of the phone game where I'd make sure all the kids were occupied by dad before I dialled, and that was a lot shorter than 10 minutes.

Right now I'm dealing with dad out of town, oldest son home with a fever of 101, and youngest one probably not sick, but she did hack up dinner last night--I'm guessing (hoping) she just got something stuck in her throat.

Ten minutes can be an eternity around here...

Way to stick it to Uncle Beast by not replying to him with your 3,000th post! Now I promise I won't spit up my dinner tonight.....

If you start taking the test and are interrupted this evening, I'm afraid you'll be out of luck.

In HK mode, the avatars are buried so deep I wouldn't know my post count unless someone (Uncle Beast) points it out. Maybe he can do a countdown next time.... :P

Take the Pacific test on Thursday. No American Idol and the time should be late enough on the east coast that everyone is bunked out.

Tried to study up on some recent pop culture by checking out the Oscar and Grammy websites. Gave up on it. I cannot believe the number of Grammy categories they have nowadays!

Fuggedaboudit. I'll go into detail when I get on the show. For tonight, it's all innate talent and gut feelings.
I just ordered chicken and an egg from Amazon. I'll let you know.

New plan.

Kansas City.

I forgot that I can fly SW Airlines there without the restrictions of the [stupid] Wright Amendment doubling the fare.

I can round trip for $100-$120 there instead of the $200 it would take to go to LAX. Of course, that does not include all the extra fees that get tagged on.

Now, to decide when to take the test. I am assuming my rehearsal will be canceled tonight, so that's an option. If not, then I have to wait until Thursday for the Pacific Time zone test.

Oooh...even more reason to like the KC site...

I was planning on driving up...was gonna offer my passenger seat to you (assuming we both make it)...but flying SWA is definitely cheaper!!

Do you even get to pick? I thought it said they can't guarantee you can go to your choice of cities? But maybe I'm remembering it wrong, and it was that they might change which cities they pick?

Picking an audition site was part of the registration process for the test

And now, since I'll be home tonight due to the weather, I'm gonna take the test tonight!!

Yes, on the registration page, they say:
Be sure to select from the drop down list of available cities you prefer for an audition location.
Besides passing the test, you have to hope that not too many other people who pass choose the same city or you'll need to win a random drawing for an audition slot.

Hey whatever, if it's meant to be, it's meant to be, I guess.

That's what I have to say at this point anyway, right? Maybe everyone else who put that much thought into it will go to other cities, thereby leaving NYC quite open for me!? One can dream...

TheCalvinator24 wrote:So, I got an answer on the J! board about how L.A. auditions work.

Even though it wasn't the answer I wanted, L.A. is still the best option for flying. I can get a flight for a reasonable price with enough notice.

So, it's either sign up for L.A. or pass on this year.

I'm still debating.
I say go -you gotta be in it to win it.

If you're chosen for an interview, I think you can change your choice of city at that time.

You could miss the first song of the next American Idol in that 10 minutes!

Or you could miss the 1000th time Paula does something stoopid.

Not unless they've changed something. When I got my email, it gave me the time and date in Denver and that was that. I had to RSVP in two days and they would tell me where it was being held at that time.

If you had a major conflict with the date and time, you could email and try explain your situation, but there were no guarantees. It gave the impression that if another slot was not RSVPed, you might be able to have that one, but time and date only.
