Re: Sploofus scores for January...
I was on a nice run lately but I got stumped by a Dickens' question this morning.
What was the first Dickens' novel written completely in the first person? Or something like that. I picked a first-person novel but not the right one.

The writer's name is Dickens. Because you accidentally included an apostrophe (Dicken's), it made it be the possessive form of Dicken. It is Confessor's snarky way of pointing out your error, instead of just saying you mistyped, and included an apostrophe you didn't need. Or just ignoring it, like most of us, as we make mistakes also.

You guys can be really frustrating.
Here I am, so happy that I am somewhere around 70 on the Sploofus list (at least when I looked it this am) and then I look at the BB list and I am only 17!
Would you guys stop being so smart so tha I can look smarter?

Thanks for the mind reading. I thought I was being sympathetic to AJ and snarky toward Sploofus, since we have all had to deal with occasional poorly written questions on that site. I'd never be intentionally snarky toward one of my favorite and most respected contributors here. I also thought I was serving up a softball humor opportunity to certain people who can't resist a straight line.Ritterskoop wrote:andrewjackson wrote:I have no idea what you are talking about.TheConfessor wrote: Who is Dicken?

Skoop, AJ knew exactly what the Confessor was talking about, as he corrected his original post before you posted your explanation.Ritterskoop wrote:andrewjackson wrote:I have no idea what you are talking about.TheConfessor wrote: Who is Dicken?

Right. I guess I should have added the smiley to "I have no idea what you are talking about".

Re: Sploofus scores for January...
Frustrating some times. I'm not going to say stoopid but frustrating.
On Thursday afternoon, I was in 10th place, 368 points out of 9th, on the Bored list.
I get the question right on Friday morning for about 1,377 points. 1,400 is about the best I can do. Occasionally I can get into the 1,500s but not often.
On Friday afternoon, I'm in 10th place, 712 points out of 9th place.
I lost ground. It would have taken 1,721 points just to stay even.
I know how it can happen but still frustrating.
Sigh.
And now karma will likely bite me tomorrow for posting this.

Re: Sploofus scores for January...
Tried this over the weekend with Saturday & Sunday's questions. Also did my Trivia Showdown first. I did notice better speed of loading. Didn't help that I missed the Sunday Q (which was one I knew, but tried to hurry and went for the "obvious" distractor).andrewjackson wrote:Thanks for the tip.

I did not try it yet. I really like the pattern of doing the question every morning.TheCalvinator24 wrote:Tried this over the weekend with Saturday & Sunday's questions. My times were typical on Saturday and Sunday but this morning I got a really easy Geography question and ripped off a good time, +1600 points. I think my relative slowness in answering is probably just my reaction time in reading the Q and As but I may yet try the banking method.
No matter where you go, there you are.
