Kirsten Gillibrand for New York Senate seat

#1 Post by bazodee » Thu Jan 22, 2009 8:06 pm

MSNBC is reporting that Congresswoman Gillibrand has been called to a meeting at 11 a.m Friday morning with Gov. Paterson, which would seem to be further confirmation that she will be the choice to fill Senator Clinton's seat.

WPIX is reporting Thursday night that New York Congresswoman Kirsten Gillibrand is to be named by Gov. David Paterson to fill Hillary Clinton's Senate seat:

More proof that Paterson is an incompetent ass, pardon my language. He could've picked Andrew Cuomo who I've already discussed in the past. He could've picked Byron Brown, who's been a State Senator and A big-city mayor and is a very popular guy among New York politicians. Instead he's going with someone who's been in the House for a grand total of...wait for it...wait....2 years, and that's it. And he's picking her because she's a woman and because she comes from an influential family and anyone who says otherwise is fooling themselves. Sound familiar? Better than Caroline but not by much. I don't understand the need to replace a woman with a woman. I understand they are underrepresented but that should not be a factor if there are better qualified males available.

All this said, I am now going to spend the next two months working my rear end off to try and get a job in Ms. Gillibrand's Senate office. Life is weird.

It'll be weirder after Senator-designate Gillibrand gets a copy of this post.
Enough already. It's my fault! Get over it!

That'll be $10, please.

I like Kirsten Gillibrand, but I'll have to agree with clem. Is she really more suited for the New York Senate seat than, say, Cuomo or Brown or Nadler? The answer is "no". Hell, if Gov. Paterson wanted to pick a woman, then why not Carolyn McCarthy or Carolyn Maloney?

I'dve been happier with Maloney as well, but Paterson is an incompetent ass and apparently I'm not alone in my thinking:

She won an election against Sandy Treadwell who spent more money than I have ever seen spent here to win a seat. She is a democrat who was endorsed by the NRA. She twice won a seat in Republican majority district. To jump to the conclusion that she was chosen just because she is a woman and from an influential family is stoopid.

I did not want her picked. I wanted to keep her for myself.

She will make a great compliment to Schumer.

It's not stoopid, it's true. She may be a good congresswoman but a 1 term congresswoman who has done nothing particularly noteworthy other than being a Blue Dog is not our best choice, and she was not chosen because she was the best choice. Don't fool yourself...

More proof that Paterson is an incompetent ass

lol - I don't recall you mentioning his assitude when you thought he was naming your guy to the post.

no, no his assitude wouldve remained even if he'd picked Cuomo. It's simply gone up a notch now...

incompetent ass
You know, I've loved coming to this bored because of its civility. When we start calling politicians (or anybody else) by vulgar names, I'm really disappointed.

Patterson didn't pick Cuomo because Patterson can't pick the new Attorney General. That's the Assembly's job (read Shellie Silver).

Since you seem to be in her district Pea, get hold of her and warn her never to get between Schumer and a camera!

I don't know what you are worried about-her resume and reasons for selection (as you describe them) sounds a lot like that of our Dear Leader.
