Lost

Spoiler
Looks like Hurley might have a "meatier" role this season. I missed a lot of last season, so I'll have some catching up to do. Enjoyed it a lot tho, as there was a lot of good action and drama and hints.

Spoiler
They've given all the Oceanic 6 motivation to go back to the Island except Sun. I have no idea how Ben/Jack will get her to go within 70 hours. Unless, she thinks that's her best chance of killing him. Sayid's motivation isn't that strong, either, but I think he's unhappy with his life off the island. The inclusion of Ben would be a possible drawback to his wanting to go. Hurley will obviously be busted out of prison. Maybe Sayid will do it, making him a fugitive as well.

They still have a lot to wrap up and explain in the final two seasons. I hope they don't drag out the "getting back to the island" dilemma for this entire season.

It still gets me a bit Lost at times.
Spoiler
The flying arrows, etc

And the going back and forth in time was unsettling, which was probably how it was intended.

But the boy doesn't look very Korean. Am I missing something else as well?

Probably more than just that!

It'd be a nice change of pace for Hurley to be more than the comic relief.

If the folks on the island are skipping through time rather than space, why did those on the helicopter see the island disappear?

So one of the socks finally gets whiny and has some lines to say. That's a sure sign he's about to get a flaming arrow in his chest!

Spoiler
Daniel Dae Kim, who plays Jin, is still listed in the cast credits. In the past, whenever they have had appearances by dead characters from previous seasons, either as ghosts or in flashbacks, they are credited as guest stars (like Michele Rodriguez last night). This leads me to believe that he is not as "dead" as some of the other characters on the show have been.

I'm still trying to figure out who was capable of shooting flaming arrows in the numbers and frequency that occurred last night. No one we've seen, whether the Dharma people or the Others, seems to have had that capability. And the uniforms the two guys who Locke dispatched didn't seem to match up with any group we've seen on the island before.
Ratings for Lost were very disappointing. It finished well behind CBS' Criminal Minds and CSI: New York, and the first hour finished behind the debut of Fox's Lie to Me as well. At this point, the story line is so convoluted that it's virtually impossible to get new people involved (I had to explain a few things to Mrs SSS and she's been watching the show with me most of the time the last few years), so it's a matter of trying to hold onto the audience they already have.

I believe the flaming arrows were courtesy of the crew of the Black Pearl (or whatever the name of that boat was. And I believe Charles Widmore was one of that boat's survivors (hence him saying to Ben that the island was his first). And I believe Miles is Dr. Chang's son.

My wife has watched since Season 2 (maybe a few episodes in Season 1), and I had to explain a lot to her last night. She had no clue about the Nigerian plane.

I would think the folks who caught Sawyer & Juliet were Rousseau's team, except they said "Who are you and what are you doing on our island. That strikes me as more of an Others way of thinking (or at least what we originally thought of as Others back in Seasons 1&2). But, I don't recall seeing anyone fo those folks. And if it was the Others of Otherville, it had to be from before Juliet came to the Island because they had no clue who she was.

Why would the crew of the Black Pearl be using flaming arrows? I think, in that scene, they were even further back in time, to when there were indiginous people on the island. Wasn't there a scene, a couple seasons ago, when they were sailing around the island and saw some ancient statue? Whoever made that shot the arrows. And SSS is right; there were an awful lot of archers doing that.

Along Marley's lines, the people that Locke killed might be the next group that comes to the island at some future date assuming that Jack and company are not successful in getting back and reuniting with Sawyer et al. In fact, looking forward to Season 6, those might be the people that have to be dealt with in order for there to be a "good" resolution of the series. It seems to me that whatever Ben did has caused everyone to keep jumping around in time, and the trick for Jack and his group isn't just to find the island, but to be there at the right time to meet up with the rest of them.

And along those lines, how is Locke going to get off the island? The only way would seem to be to do the same thing Ben did. And who or what is the life form that the Dharma people discovered at the beginning of the show?

It's a what. Didn't one of the driller show Dr. Chang an x-ray or something of the rocks that showed that big wheel that Ben turned last season? Wherever this weird power source came from, somebody put some kind of mechanical valve on it, long before the Dharma folks ever got there.

And why would Jacob tell them to move the island if doing so was oging to put everyone in peril?

Spoiler
Folks on the Lost message boreds seem to agree that the lady at the end of the show (the same one who sold Desmond the ring and told him he can't change the future) is Farraday's mom. Remember, Farraday told Desmond to go to Oxford and see his mother? He was about to tell him her name but was not able to finish the sentence. Of course, there are other theories, including it being a future Penny (thus making Farraday the son of Penny and Desmond and explaining why he is his constant), but I won't attempt to try to understand all of the logic producing that idea..although with this show, anything's possible. The previews seem to show Penny giving birth. Some think the child will be Charlotte. Remember the implications that Charlotte had been to the island before.

Also, my son pointed out that the Losties were told that they couldn't change the past. Desmond was told he couldn't change the future. Desmond said in the preview at the end of the episode that he is the only one who can save them. Looks like a good bet that Desmond is the key to changing the past events and saving everyone's bacon.

If you think your head is spinning from watching the show, try reading the theories and speculation on the boreds over at abc!
