prayer request update - my oldest daughter

#1 Post by lilyvonschtupp26 » Sun Jan 18, 2009 12:00 pm

my oldest daughter Mary lost her dad, age 65, last night. As I said before, he wasn't the best husband, but a great Dad.
Mary is so lost and sad and I can't take away her pain. This is the hardest part of being a parent. Not being able
to make everything all better.

I'm so sad today remembering the good times, seeing the good things Bob brought to Mary, contributing to her
sharp wit, inquiring mind, and appreciation for great music, books and food.

Mary,at age 8, questioned why there were so many trees in the neighborhood that held onto their leaves in the fall and
through the winter. That comment lead to a months' long investigation into marcescence, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marcescent
and a kick-ass science project mapping the trees in the area. That defined Mary and Bob's relationship. They fed off
each other.

please keep her in your thoughts.

Lily, I am so sorry for your daughter and her father's other children (even though some of them were creepy to Mary.) My condolences go to you, too, because he may have been your first Great Love, even if it didn't last. That's worthy of grieving, too.

I'm sorry for Mary's loss.

And for yours, even if Bob was your ex.

Even thought things didn't work out for Bob and me, I always rejoiced in the union because of Mary.
She has been and always will be a wonderful daughter, friends, co-conspirator in adventures and
secrets. She delights in the unexpected. She is a tremendous writer, a skill I wish I had, and her
zest for life is contagious.

She is the best of Bob and me and I celebrate it. Bob and I managed to have a civil divorce with
shared custody, and shared visitation which allowed Mary to enjoy time with both of us.

I'm sure some interesting stories will be posted in the visitors' book online about Bob as he
was quite a character and we had some very unique friends. I'll post a link when it's up.

Kathy, I'm so sorry for Mary's loss -- which is yours, too. Prayers are sent for you all.

Merry Mayhem is my middle daughter. Daughter #1 is Mary. Although she has been known to go by Merryweather, as she's a big LOTR fan.

thanks for all your thoughts and the collective hug. You guys are the best.

I'm very sorry for Mary. A loss of a parent is never easy under any circumstances. You are a good
mom. Hugs to both of you.

I'm sorry too! He was young ... And Mary is too young to have lost a parent.

Too young at any age when parent is vibrant and still has stuff to offer here. My condolences for your daughter and for you: (the marcescence anecdote is beautiful).
