Speaking of Jeopardy

#1 Post by TheCalvinator24 » Wed Jan 14, 2009 4:36 pm

Do they still do auditions in L.A. year-round (or at least regularly)?

If so, I may sign up for the on-line test and choose L.A.

The only other option would be to choose Charlotte and combine a trip to audition with a visit to my brother's house in Winston-Salem.

Are you going to just visit his house or are you hoping that he will be there?
I believe in the usefulness of useless information.

I think we discussed that recently. The L.A. auditions seem to have become history, since they implemented the online test. Take that (two weeks from now) or hope for the Brain Bus to come somewhere close.

They list L.A. as one of the audition choices. I just wasn't sure if it's gonna be a one-time deal, or if L.A. will be a recurring option.

Here's the most informative quote, from the Online Test thread:

As far as I know (and I'm more focused on this process than most), everything is based on the online test now, even the LA auditions. My impression is that they have LA auditions more than once a year, but invitations are still based on online testing.

The only "go to" auditions remaining are Brain Bus auditions and those are now held less frequently than they used to be.

I read that at the time. I was hoping someone would have more definitive information.

I am pretty sure this came up in conversation with the Contestant Coordinators at the TOC, but I may be conflating reading Slam's post with what I think I remember. It's all a blur.

But I think I do recall someone in authority saying that the only way into an audition is through the online test, but that there are more auditions in LA than on the road. Which makes sense - they use a lot more LA area contestants since they are always the "leftovers" at the end of two days of taping if no alternates were needed so that they can easily be invited back for another tape date (on which they are assured of appearing barring any unusual circumstances).

That may not make sense - let me try again. On a taping week, they tape two days of five shows each, so they only need 10 contestants per day. But they invite 12 "just in case." The two (or more in the case of ties) at the end of the first day carry over to the second day. At the end of the second day, the two that are usually left are locals who they promise to invite back to not be leftovers in the future.

That's why I'm saying it makes sense that they do more auditions in LA.

Can you tell I'm tired? My plane back from LV was delayed 6 hours on Sunday so I didn't get home until 6 am Monday (and was at work at 8 am) and I have NOT adjusted to Eastern Time (or to work!) at all.
