I have ordered a TV from Amazon.

I'm crossing my fingers that I won't have any problem that requires it to be returned. By going the Amazon route, I was able to go up a grade in sets and add a Blu-Ray DVD player for about the same price as the model I had looked at in stores.

I decided on:

Sony Bravia XBR KDL-52XBR6 52-Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV

And

Sony BDP-S550 1080p Blu-ray Player

I also threw in a premium HDMI cable.

I'm glad you took my advice! I'm still happy with mine except for the glossy black frame around the screen. Since I've been in a hotel most of the time since I got it, I hadn't watched it on a sunny day until last weekend. The reflection of the window in the frame is annoying. I'm tempted to get a can of clear matte spray paint.

You could have gotten a PS3 for just a little more then the BD player though.

Profit margins on cables and other accessories are astronomical. The reason why there's a Radio Shack on every corner isn't because they are making tons of money selling those remote controlled toy trucks. A connector that they sell for $5 costs them about 25 cents, so you can guess what they make selling a $60 HDMI cable. A lot of time people will walk out of a store with a new HDTV and a fistful of cables and the store makes more gross dollars on the cables than the TV (especially if you buy it during a sale). I've done well with the $5 Amazon HDMI cable I bought.

If you mean Monster Cables, you're right. However the last thing you want is a wimpy cheap cable that can't handle the amperage.

Radio Shack sells cables and other accessories for at least twice what you can get them for on the Net. However if you need a cable right now, they're a better choice than the big box stores.
