Answers & Points - Lyrically Speaking - 1/12/09

#1 Post by MinisKidToBeNamedLater » Mon Jan 12, 2009 7:54 am

Four years ago, I made Bored history by becoming the first person to ever post a game before I was even born. My Uncle Beast was kind enough to allow me to write this game for him which contained some naming suggestions for me, and he used it as one of his Wacky Wednesday games during the December 2004 LS. Six days after I posted this game, I came into this world and of course, wasn't given any of these 12 fine names. That's OK, when I become Dictator For Life, I can call myself whatever I want to.... though you may feel free to call me The Ice Skaping Princess, or Your Excellency for short.....

This Retro Monday game was originally posted on December 15, 2004...

1 point for the title and 1 point for the artist.....

1. You're always on the run now
Running after somebody, you gotta get him somehow
I think you've got to slow down before you start to blow it
I think you're headed for a breakdown, so be careful not to show it

2. Poor old Johnny Ray
Sounded sad upon the radio
He moved a million hearts in mono
Our mothers cried and sang along and who'd blame them

3. Come to me tonight,
come to me tonight,
taking everything in sight,
except for the strings on my kite

4. Babe, tomorrow's so far away
There's something I just have to say
I don't think I can hide what I'm feelin' inside
Another day, knowin' I love you

5. You say you feel so empty
That our house just ain't our home
I'm always somewhere else
And you're always there alone

6. And when I see the sign that points one way
The lot we used to pass by every day

7. When I give my heart again
I know it's gonna last forever
No one tell me where or when
I know it's gonna last forever

8. I used to like to walk the straight and narrow line
I used to think that everything was fine
Sometimes I'd sit and gaze for days through sleepless dreams
All alone and trapped in time
All alone and trapped in time

9. When a man loves a woman it's hard to understand
That she would find more pleasure in the arms of another man

10. Eyes that look like heaven, lips like sherry wine
That girl can sure enough make my little light shine
I get a funny feelin' up and down my spine

11. I'll never find another girl like you, for happy endings it takes two
We're fire and ice, the dream won't come true

While those are all very nice names, LB still thinks the best name for me is contained in this little ditty:

12. You can put me out on the street
Put me out with no shoes on my feet
But put me out, put me out
Put me out of misery
Kiss my dainty ass!

Not this again!
I seem to recall I stunk up the joint on this last time. Now I don't even have a bunch of girl names fresh in my head since I haven't needed any new ones for 4 years....

1. You're always on the run now
Running after somebody, you gotta get him somehow
I think you've got to slow down before you start to blow it
I think you're headed for a breakdown, so be careful not to show it

Gloria, Laura Braningan. Not ever in the running. :P

2. Poor old Johnny Ray
Sounded sad upon the radio
He moved a million hearts in mono
Our mothers cried and sang along and who'd blame them

Come On, Eileen, Dexy's Midnight Runners, I would have used this name.

3. Come to me tonight,
come to me tonight,
taking everything in sight,
except for the strings on my kite

Nope, but the lyrics fit her personality! This morning I heard her talking in her sleep, and she was saying, "No! Those are for me!" She even has Veruca dreams!

4. Babe, tomorrow's so far away
There's something I just have to say
I don't think I can hide what I'm feelin' inside
Another day, knowin' I love you

Nope

5. You say you feel so empty
That our house just ain't our home
I'm always somewhere else
And you're always there alone

Beth, KISS, not in the mix.

6. And when I see the sign that points one way
The lot we used to pass by every day

Nope

7. When I give my heart again
I know it's gonna last forever
No one tell me where or when
I know it's gonna last forever

She'll tell you what or when, believe you me!

8. I used to like to walk the straight and narrow line
I used to think that everything was fine
Sometimes I'd sit and gaze for days through sleepless dreams
All alone and trapped in time
All alone and trapped in time

Familiar! What is this!?!?

9. When a man loves a woman it's hard to understand
That she would find more pleasure in the arms of another man

Maybe he has a Platinum card and can afford to take her to Hawaii, chump...

10. Eyes that look like heaven, lips like sherry wine
That girl can sure enough make my little light shine
I get a funny feelin' up and down my spine

Familiar again! Ack!

11. I'll never find another girl like you, for happy endings it takes two
We're fire and ice, the dream won't come true

Familarish. I think I hate it and am blocking it...

Put me out with no shoes on my feet
But put me out, put me out

I like you miserable, oh Beast of Burden! Rolling Stones. Wasn't gonna happen, and you know it... :P

The m-i-l lobbied hard for Ann as a middle name. I wanted Holly or Shannon. Give yourself JJCP if any of those are in the mix. Or Colleen...

I haven't looked at the retro points yet, but I'm pretty sure you did better than that. I know you got Crystal Ball for sure. I think it's just old age setting in..... :P :P :P

Dammit! I saw them in one of those concerts that featured three groups, and that was my favorite song of the night! No wonder it was so darned familiar!!!!

:kickkickkick: I lost the old "I saw them in concert" schtick by being dense...

There's something I just have to say
I don't think I can hide what I'm feelin' inside
Another day, knowin' I love you

Um...

5. You say you feel so empty
That our house just ain't our home
I'm always somewhere else
And you're always there alone

BETH - KISS

6. And when I see the sign that points one way
The lot we used to pass by every day

Crap. This is JUST WALK AWAY RENEE but I can't remember who sang it. Jan and Dean? No, but it's all I got.

7. When I give my heart again
I know it's gonna last forever
No one tell me where or when
I know it's gonna last forever

Um...

8. I used to like to walk the straight and narrow line
I used to think that everything was fine
Sometimes I'd sit and gaze for days through sleepless dreams
All alone and trapped in time
All alone and trapped in time

CRYSTAL BALL???? - STYX, if it is.

9. When a man loves a woman it's hard to understand
That she would find more pleasure in the arms of another man

TAKE A LETTER, MARIA? Wish I could remember who did it.

10. Eyes that look like heaven, lips like sherry wine
That girl can sure enough make my little light shine
I get a funny feelin' up and down my spine

ELVIRA - OAK RIDGE BOYS

11. I'll never find another girl like you, for happy endings it takes two
We're fire and ice, the dream won't come true

Um...

While those are all very nice names, LB still thinks the best name for me is contained in this little ditty:

12. You can put me out on the street
Put me out with no shoes on my feet
But put me out, put me out
Put me out of misery

BEAST OF BURDEN - ROLLING STONES

And I'll WAG "MANDY" by Boring Manilow for the rest.

I am SO upset that I missed the Jefferson Air/Star/Plane/Ship one.

And once I read "Left Banke" I remembered their name.

Oh, you'll love this week then, because every game this week except tomorrow's will be hosted by an MM. And in fact, I could dig up an MM for tomorrow's if I really wanted to....

MinisKidToBeNamedLater wrote:Four years ago, I made Bored history by becoming the first person to ever post a game before I was even born.
