Happy Birthday Elvis

#1 Post by danielh41 » Thu Jan 08, 2009 1:24 pm

Elvis Presley, born on this date in 1935 in Tupelo, Mississippi, would have been 74 years old today.

I was showing some of my students some pictures of me back before I grew this beard (24 years ago) and one of them popped out that she thought I looked like Elvis in the picture. Trust me, I look nothing like Elvis at any stage of his life.
I felt the change

Unfortunately, Fat Vegas Elvis is the image most have when The King is mentioned. In his early days E was THE MAN.

Col. Tom made him rich, but he also destroyed him.

one of the teachers at school loves Elvis and had a birthday party for Elvis today and we showed part of
Jailhouse Rock during study hall.

He wore a white spangly jumpsuit to work as well. It was a riot. He wouldn't let us take his picture though.
he wore an Elvis wig and sideburns on picture day and so that's how he'll appear in the yearbook. Isn't that
great?

It is either great or a little sad.

OK. It's great.

I always find it so sad that so many revere a guy who had an enormous talent and blew it all with drugs.
The people around him, especially his father, never had the balls to stand up to him and tell him he was killing himself. Pathetic.
