The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

All four of us saw The Curious Case of Benjamin Button today and really enjoyed the movie. The girls and I were all crying at the end of the movie as were most of the people in the theater. I have to say that Cate Blanchett was incredible in the movie. I couldn't believe how well she played an old lady.

The movie was about as subtle as the guy who kept saying that he'd been hit by lightning seven times. The film makes its point over and over and over and over. It's understandable because the screenplay was written by the same guy who wrote Forest Gump. Like Ben Button, he seems to have gotten younger and even less sophisticated over the years.

It was a very well made movie (I thought the way they put an aged Brad Pitt's head on other actors' bodies was amazing), but the screenplay was far too obvious for my tastes.

I will say that the two surest locks for the Oscar pool are Wall-E for best animated film and this movie for best makeup effects.

The first time it happened the audience laughed, but each time the amount of laughter got louder and louder. Emma and I had to leave to use the ladies room and I made sure that I left right after one of the "struck by lightning" vignettes because I didn't want to miss one.

Keep in mind-she is pushing 40-

Once a woman gets close to that-you can really see the age-

So it is really not a stretch-now if a woman pushing 40 were playing young and attractive-now that would be a stretch.

So it is really not a stretch-now if a woman pushing 40 were playing young and attractive-now that would be a stretch.

She played her character in her 20's and it was totally believable. That's why it was so amazing that she could play a character who was so old.

That is apparently the reason that the guy got shot in the theater in Philadelphia, according to witnesses. The shooting story that sss referred to earlier. viewtopic.php?f=1&t=13168

They interviewed the gentleman's wife on TV, as well as other witnesses. They all said that the family wasn't talking on cell phones or being disruptive.

Apparently, they were laughing. Very hard. The son said something to the father, who replied.

The guy with the gun got pissy, threw the popcorn and told them to shut up. When the father got up to protect his kid, he shot the father.

THEN WENT BACK TO HIS SEAT TO FINISH WATCHING THE MOVIE!

So, I side with the guy who was shot here. Apparently, violence is OK if you don't agree with someone's opinion of a movie. Gee, and I thought thumbs down was rough.
