feels he represents the many educated and rational onlookers who believe that the hysterical denouncement of lay scepticism is both unwarranted and counter-productive

The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.

I may not know much about advertising but that one got my attention. Maybe the LS promo team could take a lesson or two.

I didn't click but, given the NSFW warning, I'll wager that it features a lady sitting on a washing machine.

Am I close?

There are no washing machines shown in the ad. :D That's probably why Kay didn't like it. I'm not certain there were any actual ladies either.

Good thing I didn't wager much.

So is somebody going to recap or are you going to force me to watch it?

Spoiler
A thousand or so immodestly dressed and enhanced young women parachute out of a large plane and form up to spell the name and price of a washing machine, one young woman's parachute fails to open and she lands in a pool.

Thanks, Kiki. You've saved me a click. I would think that approach would be more suited to an advert for a good support garment.

Spoiler
Guy in sunglasses leads a bunch of big breasted chicks wearing skimpy red outfits on a plane. Said girls begin to strip as they board the plane, then take off their tops on board. There are numerous gratuitous closeups. The dignified ladies then jump out of the plane, eventually forming a tandem that advertising the product to all of the golfing and tennising guys watching from down below, and procede to parachute to the ground. One unfortunate girl's parachute doesn't deploy, and she lands in what looks like Kay's pool during one of her little soirees. She emerges completely nekkid and scampers off. The end....
