Quiet Afternoon

#1 Post by christie1111 » Tue Dec 23, 2008 2:17 pm

Must be last minute Christmas shopping.

Kids1111 went together after school today to shop for the Parents1111.

How nice!

I'm in a sugar coma. Our work holiday party was a dessert party, with luscious goodies from the dessert restaurant run by our boss's college roommate.

Need to stop on the way home to pick up some munchies for our party on Sunday. Might also pick up an extra gift for GW. I don't have anything particularly good for her this year. It's okay stuff, but not one of my more successful shopping years.
I just ordered chicken and an egg from Amazon. I'll let you know.

I was working my heinie off today! I came back to the motel and took a nap for an hour then played NTN. I played Showdown with just one other person: Pat, a teammate from Bennigan's. We had a decent score but not in the top 50. I came in 12th on the 10 PM game though.

I feel like I spent the entire day cleaning or standing in lines. The line at Borders was just as bad as it is when a new Harry Potter book comes out.

The good news is that I was able to complete all eight of my errands.

I haven't Sploofused in four or five days because my brain is fried.

I was going to go to bed early, but everyone fell asleep, so I have a lot of quiet time to get things done.

I think that I am done, but fine something else to do. Today I got my letter carrier a gift card to Starbucks for $25. I found out this evening that she can only accept gifts up to $20, so I will have to go out tomorrow and get a new gift card.

She is really sweet and carries treats in her jeep for Zap.

I made the Ghiradelli mix Steve bought as a BOGO. They have walnuts in them and are cakier than the fudgy type I prefer. So I whipped up some ganache to top them with.

If you like that idea, I'll fax some over. Or you can wait until I make the fudgy homestyle non-fancy types. Your choice.

How about the hot pickled asparagus? That was another one of the things we'd sneak into the pantries, but I think her husband opened them thinking they were real food! He'd eat stuff like that........

No need at the moment. Docs are behaving. Hub has an infection at his IV site, but we're watching it and oral antibiotics are being tried first - if they don't work , it's back in the hosp for IV anti's. Ugh. Oh well. Ob da lee.
