Holiday Follies

Here they are. Merv is scoping Beau out, having no idea whether Beau is a dog, a cat, or wtf. Beebs is clueless and hoping for food droppings.

Jeff's dad is here for Christmas, which is a great thing--my m-i-l died just before Thanksgiving, so he's visited Jeff's sister for Tgiving, been home a short bit and then here for Christmas. It was a blessing that she passed away since it had been a long difficult haul. And, as much as I've ragged on her in the past I know she's way happier and painless now, so that's a grand thing.

We shall soon have four cats (Greg's three plus Merv, and two dogs) and four adults in our house. Plus a new fence.
Well, then

Beau likes being the center of attention...I can tell that right away.
Merv's look is so clearly a "what do you think you're doing in my chair" cat look that it's
hard not to smile. BB is just glad to be here.

You can't have him! He is the best cat, though he's prone to harrassment of other animals. Once they've been around for awhile they all become best buds. He's a lover.

Hey, Beebs, check out the ham roll-ups on the end table!

Everyone's paying attention to Merv and Beau, so nobody'll notice if you sample one.

You have a very handsome family, Miss Beebs. That cat looks like the kind of cat with whom I always get along best. I bet I could tease him, and he would tease me back, then we'd laugh and laugh and make fun of Lizbit.

You guys would be famous friends. Merv does like to mock others quite often. Including us. Of course he gets away with it.

He looked at them a couple of times, imploring, and realized it was hopeless. He can't eat so much crap like he used to. Not that these were crap, but in dog terms they're bad for him. So, we ate'em.

Squirrels are the architects of forests, the planters of trees, nature's own acrobats and show a zest for life that can inspire us. Every day should be National Squirrel Appreciation Day!

Many of these (squirrel) migrations were probably caused by food shortages as well as habitat overcrowding. We solved that for them. We not only reduced their habitat, we reduced the whole species by about 90%. The least we can do now is share a little birdseed with them.

There are more important things to worry about than a squirrel's manners.... like what you're going to do when these 5 degree temperatures make their way down to Auburn....

That's OK. I can direct Kay to the closest moonshine still. That'll keep her warm.

Can you believe it's 23 with a wind chill of 11 right now? But don't worry
it's only temporary as it will be back to 70 in the next couple of days.

My cat has been licking the marshmallows lately. He doesn't care about this whole 'good' and 'bad' concept thingy......

That sounds like our temperatures today!

You think ONE is annoying? Try the FOUR we have now. Plus the two poor doggies. Really. Honestly. Holy shit. They're even annoying me.
One got into the Christmas tree. The big loppy cat. Apollo. It's going to be a long haul.
