From Nurse Christine Chapel, to the voice of the Enterprise computer, she was as much a part of Star Trek as anyone.

Very freaky. I was just thinking about her today while working to work. I have no idea why, though.

IIRC she also played the first No. 1 in the pilot with Captain Christoper Pike, the Menagerie.tubadave wrote:From Nurse Christine Chapel, to the voice of the Enterprise computer, she was as much a part of Star Trek as anyone.

Correct. She was No. 1 in the "The Cage" (which is actually the original title of the pilot...it was later made into the two-part episiode from the original series called "The Menagerie".)a1mamacat wrote:IIRC she also played the first No. 1 in the pilot with Captain Christoper Pike, the Menagerie.tubadave wrote:From Nurse Christine Chapel, to the voice of the Enterprise computer, she was as much a part of Star Trek as anyone.

She is the only actor to have appeared in all five Star Trek series: As Nurse Christine Chapel and a shipboard computer voice in the original Star Trek; as Lwaxana Troi in The Next Generation and Deep Space 9; as the voice of the computer on all Federation ships in TNG, DS9, and Voyager; and as the voice of the computer for a couple of episodes of Enterprise.
According to something I just read, she will be heard as the voice of the ship's computer in the new Star Trek movie coming out next May...she just finished the voiceover work about two weeks ago.

Bad news about the death, good news about the voiceover.tubadave wrote: According to something I just read, she will be heard as the voice of the ship's computer in the new Star Trek movie coming out next May...she just finished the voiceover work about two weeks ago.
I thought she was wonderful in everything except as Lwaxana Troi. I liked the exuberance and flash, but that "gotta have a man" schtick was horrifying. I'm sure I'll enjoy the new movie.

Yeahbut, it led to one of the best scenes in Trekdom - Capt. Picard trying to convince a Ferengi he (Picard) is in love with Lwaxanna.
